This is not a bug, as far as I know, but simply the way macOS and its applications work.
You only closed the open document, not the application itself. If you look at the menu at the top of the screen, it shows that Affinity Photo is still active. You can use the menu actions to Close (Quit?) Affinity itself, or to create a new document, or open an existing one.
If the application is still active, I should be able to open it from the dock.
But it doesn't work. -
After I closed the Affinity photo window, it neither exited nor was able to open again from dock.The bug reappears whenever I use Affinity Photo.
Affinity Photo version: 1.10.5
device:Macbook pro 2021
System:MacOS 12.5

This bug has been around for a while in affinity photo.

See attachment. that's why I think there is some issue with Affinity Photo. Most apps will show the startup window (or home screen) after you close it and try to open it again, even if you didn't do anything before.
But Affinity Photo wouldn't.
