  1. Thank you @walt.farrell for the answer above
    1) I would like to create facing pages and they should already be next to each other from the start
and not start with a single one e.g. for PDF'S (no I don't want to delete the first page then in the PDF).
    How does this work?

    Answer:
When you create the document you can choose whether the first page is on the right (default) or left. Sounds like you should choose left.
    This works very well. !!!

  2. Hello @NathanC
Unfortunately, it is not possible to move individual pages from a spread. Affinity treats the facing page as a single page after the IDML import. Since Affinity cannot or does not recognize this issue, it is, until this issue is not improved, a bug.

Until this bug is solved, I have found the following workaround:
When exporting an InDesign document to IDML, you have to make sure that the checkbox "Double page" or Facing Page (i only have a German Version) is activated in "Menu--> File--> Document setup".
Now you can export the document and Affinity recognizes that it is a facing page.

Sorry it takes a while to answer because describing the problem in the right way is timeconsuming

  3. Swatch palette problems:
Affinity Publisher 1.10.5 / Mac Os Monterey 12.4 MacBook Pro 14".
    - the feature Create palette from document does not work.
Publisher always starts the document with this unspeakable grey palette

    - when creating a "Global Colour" it cannot automatically take the CMYK mode as name

    - i can not click on several colours together

    - there is no replacement suggestion when deleting a colour

    Suggestion:
I would only allow "Global Colour" the other idea with the fill only leads to errors

  4. Create new page problem:

    2) I would like to add a 3rd page ore even more pages to the facing pages (e.g. for a leporello).
    How do I do that?

    3) In addition, I have noticed that Affinity generates a document from imported Indesign facing pages,
which does not allow to arrange/move the single pages.
What do I need to do to prevent this from happening (please don't ask why)?

    "Create New Document" suggestion:
Affinity Publisher should allow one more additional feature when creating a new document
and that is in the section "Pages":

    Pages--> Allow individual arrangement
    Pages--> Opposite page

Maybe you take another look at how InDesign does it or the old QuarkXpress.
All the standards have already been created. The actaul "Create Dukument" feature ist to stiff and does not let us do our things. This is very frustrating because nobody thinks, that there already so many hurdles in the beginning of creating a document  (same with the swatches palette).
I hope i don't have to end up with InDesign again.

  5. Unfortunately, this does not work with this tool, because it is more intended for exchanging words or already existing fonts. It does not even allow you to enter a non-existing font in the search mask.

The idea of the above mentioned feature, however, is a completely different one: namely, that a font, which is embedded in the document, but the paths to it are missing or it is not even on the computer, can be relinked or replaced by another, new font and that for the whole document.

It should then work like this:
Affinity Publisher detects a missing font in the document and reports this. Now the user can use the "Manage Fonts" tool to replace the missing font with another one. The tool already offers the mask, but the "replace" button and the action that applies this command to the whole document is missing. Either this is a bug or the tool is not programmed to the end.

  6. For example, when I import an IDML (inDesign) document, Publisher tells me: "Document contains missing fonts".
Now I can click "Manage fonts" and in the fonts management window theoretically replace the missing font with a font that exists on the computer.
So I select the new font on the "Substitutions side", which is possible, but after that there is no button "replace" that would replace the fonts for the whole document. There is only a button "close"
