  1. Merry Christmas! Thanks to the Affinity for all your help the past year. My next question: Is it possible to load the colour picker tool through keyboard shortcut? I had a look under preferences and was unable to figure it out. I am trying to continuously select and load colours to my brush without have to go all the way over to the colour panel every time. Thanks!
  2. Gday Team, I've been wondering this for ages, what does the percentage mean in the document title?
  3. Hello Team, New question for you all. I am doing some still life photos and am trying to find the best way to enable tethering so that I can immediately view the pictures on my computer rather than the LCD. I am shooting with a Fuji X-T3 and Macbook Air. On their website they suggest a few options and I have downloaded Fujifilm X Acquire. This is working in the sense that it immediately sends the Raw file to a folder on my computer. The problem is that I want an interface where I can immediately view the photo and see basic metadata, histogram, etc. Does anyone tether using Affinity Photo? I tried to link it all together and there is some issue. If not Affinity, is there any other recommended software for tethered shooting? Any advice greatly appreciated. Cheers!
  4. Hello, I am consistently struggling to use the channels panel. When I watch the tutorial I see James right clicking the channels and receiving a host of option. However I am completely unable to right click any of the channels or the pixel selection option. I've had this issue with both version 1 and version 2. Any ideas why this isn't working for me? Thanks!
  5. I am editing for printing and plan to have the colour profile as sRGB for the printers, should I edit in Adobe RGB or ROMM RGB and then export in sRGB? What about soft proofing?
  6. Hello again crew, Help! I don't know if I am just noticing this now, or if I have adjusted my settings and am now experiencing a colour issue when developing a RAW file from the Develop persona to the Photo persona. When the file is developed I see a dramatic shift down in colour vibrancy and perhaps range. I have explored the user interface and am at a bit of a loss, I believe it has something to do with developing in RBGA/32 (HDR), and when developed it is opened in the photo persona in RGBA/16. Is this what is causing this shift? Is the only way to develop a RAW file in RGBA/32 (HDR)? I explored how to potentially change this but could not see how. Please see reference photos for what I am describing. Thank you!
  7. Does anyone have any thoughts on this aspect of soft proofing? Do you do all of your edits and then at the soft proofing to the top of the layer stack, or export the phot (lets say as a jpg) and then bring it back into affinity photo to soft the jpg file? Is there a disadvantage to soft proofing and then doing additional edits to the jpg to adapt to the soft proofing layer? Something tells me that this may degrade the image quality, but that is just a guess.
  8. Hello again Affinity community, Many thanks for your continued support. Next question: I am delving into printing and am trying to soft proof my photos. I have found a online printer that supplies ICC paper profiles and this is fine but I want to support my local print shop and need help. I know the printer they use (Canon Pro-4100), do I need to add this printer profile to my computer? If yes, does anyone know where to get this, and how to install? I have tried to do this through Affinity Photo but it just asks for a printer that is installed on the computer. I know the paper they use (Epson Premium Lustre, and Glossy, 240/260g. This is as specific as they were). Does anyone have a source for Epson ICC paper profiles online? For some reason I am struggling to find this. As you can see I am just starting out, so thanks for your guidance!
  9. I understand the how to change the brightness of the display, I suppose what I am asking how to find the gamma rating or the luminance (cd/m2) numbers that are referenced in several blog posts on the topic. RichardMH gives a range in a response above. Does anyone know how to find out the cd/m2 in relation to the display brightness on a Mac? Thanks again to all for responses.
  10. Hello Friends, Next question, how do you handle display brightness when photo editing. I edit at full brightness because that is how I like to look at my monitor. Surely this is causing me to edit photos in a way that is causing them to look dark on other displays. How do we set display brightness? I am working on a Macbook Air. I see different resources on the internet referencing gamma levels and cd/m2 numbers. I don't know what this means and don't see how to tell what my computer display is showing relative to these numbers. Any and all help on the topic greatly appreciated. Big thanks to the community here for being so helpful and informative in response to my questions thus far.
  11. Another question for you all as I am working through this. When in the photo persona, what is the difference between assign ICC profile, and convert format/ICC profile?
  12. Ok, so do you stay with the default color space throughout editing and then convert once you have a finished image? For me, when I open a RAW file in the develop persona the color space is sRGB. Should I keep this colour space throughout editing and into the photo persona? Should my default color space be something other than sRGB when opening a RAW file? I'm sure you saw above that RichardMH recommended switching to ROMM RGB, as it is the largest color space.
  13. That's interesting Palatino, can you elaborate on this? What happens when you convert too early and when in the process is it "too early"?
  14. Hi Dan, I just came back to the forum and saw that you had replied and I haven't responded. Thank you for replying but I have since decided that I don't have much need for LUTs. My apologies for not replying sooner. Thanks!
  15. Hello, I find myself a bit confused about to handle color space while editing in affinity photo. My current method is to load a RAW image and convert to Adobe RGB (1998) in the developer persona. I read that this is the best way to render colour while editing, that is provides a wider color space. Is this true? When it comes to exporting a final image from the photo persona I am not sure the best way to handle the color space at that point. Should I be converting to a specific color space depending on the destination of the image, whether is be web, print or otherwise? Should I be converting to this colour space earlier in the process if I know in advance that I'll be printing for example? Any advice on this issue is greatly appreciated. Thank!
  16. I absolutely cannot make my exported LUTs appear the same once they are imported. I have explored to see if colour space is an issue, or perhaps local adjustments not being included, but have come to no conclusions. Why won't my LUTs appear the same?
