Would it be possible to add this to the feature requests ? A pointillism filter, NOT similar to the add noise filter. Pointillism adds "dots" of one shade of color , whereas noise will add a mix of multicolored dots. (Even the monochromatic noise filter seems to add multicolored dots, correct me if I'm wrong please ???) Anyway, thanks in advance for considering to add this feature. C.L.

Hi, Callum : The forum button does not say "Unfollow this forum", that choice simply isn't there. So I suppose it is already made to be "unfollow" by default. In that case, I wouldn't know why I keep receiving post-notifications that are solely applicable to the Windows version. ABC's suggestion to either un-merge or introduce a tag seems like it will do the job. Let's hope the devs have time to figure something out, because it it getting too much. Thanks, C.L.

Hello, I've got 2 really, really stupid questions albeit a little late in the day, I fully realize that.... ONE : Are you sure the "Align" Tool Icons (Hor + Vert) are assigned to the appropriate tool ? Judging by the Alignment-line in the icons : Might it be that they have been switched ? Or mayhaps 'tis the icons themselves that need a slight redesign ? TWO : Is it possible to make the Icon texts into 2 lines ? I have a 27" iMac and even I am running out of Icon space. Imagine what people with laptops must experience .... Thanks and keep up the good work. C.L.

Grid system color customization. Is the Guide-system going the same way ? Love it, thanks !!!! C.L. -
Please tell me I'm wrong !!!! Just on the news today over here : AppStore will be switching over to a subscription model for software developers aka sellers/contributors, as well as the customers thereof. Please tell me Affinity isn't going the way of Adobe et al ?? Has anyone else heard about this ?

C.L. To M.E.B. : The Google translation : e.g. the words are there albeit in the wrong order. But that's Google.... In Dutch there's a difference between "Launching" and starting up. Launching pertains to (of all things) a rocket or some such. While starting up is, well, starting up a program or a car, or anything, really. Greetings, C.L.

Hi, Tonyt, In AffPhoto : Make sure the shape (picture) to be faded is a pixel layer, if not rasterize first. Here's the method Rosa Cobos uses. This is blurring the edges. Very effective, you just have to play with the number of pixels to shrink. Firstly select the shape to be faded. Once selected , shrink it some pixels...in my case eight is ok. Then invert the selection and take the blurring brush tool. With the hardness to zero and may be the opacity to 70.(this is after one´s taste) You simply brush the outline that has been left following the shrinking of the selection. Then deselect and you see how nicely has been softened with the blurring. To fade to transparency (in AFPhoto) Make sure the shape (picture) to be faded is a pixel layer, if not rasterize first. Create a shape , (rectangle, circle, ellipse, etc.) roughly the shape of the shape to be faded. Fill the new shape with gradient, black on the outside, white on the inside. Within the gradient, create a new stop, color white. Now manipulate the gradient with A : the stop, and B : the gradient tool, black will be transparent, white will be opaque. Rasterize the new layer to mask. Your picture will have faded edges.

Hi, MEB Arrgghhh, those guides ..... If I remember correctly, they were at one time visible beyond the canvas boundaries ?? Anyhow, Thanks for you reply. As you might be aware of, the guides & grids still have issues. This was mentioned in posts numerous times, not least by little old me: I'm beginning to feel something of a nuisance on this subject. Yet, I still think it's of major importance to get it right. Do you happen to know if these issues will be addressed in a new release ?

Have you seen this video ? I installed the Nik collection by following this video & it works fine now. It's very clear, but you have to follow the steps exactly. Make sure you have removed any prior installations before installing it again. Best of luck, C.L. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfwp2lbCKzU

Would a logarithmic grid help ? Google for "Logarithmic grid", choose an appropriate one, open in AFD, use as background layer, lock it & start your design on a new layer. Or : use as background layer & pull guidelines to fit on a new layer. There's also info on Google on how to make a logarithmic grid from scratch (if you're good at maths...)

Morten, There is an excellent tutorial for Aff.Photo on contact shadows (and other shadows ) here: http://affinitytutorials.de/2016/03/04/schatten-affinity-photo-tutorial/ The film is in German, but with English subtitles. There are also many more tutorials on that site, they're very good and easy to follow. Have a look-see. C.L.
