  1. I’d love to be able to always break any object down to it’s base components. You guys do this with converted type (Muey bueno!) but not shapes created with the boolean tools (Boo! …lean). Currently if I create two shapes that intersect and subtract the first shape, a new curve layer is created with all the new objects inside, I cannot cut the shapes out by node selection or by object. I would have to duplicate the object and delete any unwanted nodes. This gets tedious very quickly. In my desired scenario, my curves layer is a group containing each object. Or it could initially be a single object as now, with some option to break out the individual shapes, creating a group. As you guys do with the text tool :) Alternatively if this layer was still a single object, if the user were able so select some nodes and cut and paste them into a new layer, currently you can only copy whole objects. Actually, copying nodes between objects is generally a lovely thing to have. text-vs-objects.mov
  2. Hey, a tiny one. In photo theres a UI preference for showing monochromatic icons, just for the sake of parity could this also be available in designer? I don't use these personally, but I get the impression a lot of people like them. Cheers.
  3. Mmhmm. A handful of nodes use the GPU. Also I noticed afterwards, but nuke also reads 3D geometry and has a full 3D environment :) </plug>
  4. I'd also have a straight up "delete unused" command to save the extra click :)
  5. @Andy - Yes that sounds about right, you're a bit more dependent on layers in photo than Designer so it makes a lot of sense. I'm a little layer-phobic in vector apps anyway :) On a side note I think you guys could do with some further indication of what is and is not a group or layer in the stack, I find the grey text isn't enough. I've found when getting stuck in on larger documents I get a bit lost. A little folder icon in the corner of the group thumbnail would be sufficient :)
  6. Looking good, a quick request, you should chuck rasterise in the layer right click menu :)
  7. Generally I wouldn't pass on working files, I'd hand over cleaned versions. Say for a logo I'd package .eps and.png versions.
  8. I'm not sure if it's me being daft, but tapping enter on the new document dialog now does nice things, I used to have to tab down to ok or (heaven forbid) use my cursor to open a document. A teeny tiny change that has made me really rather happy, thank you chaps :D
  9. Speak of the devil Ronnie, they've just launched a major update!
  10. Like dropping extra copies while dragging? Sounds kinda cool, but how would you do it without playing finger twister?
  11. I'd love a keyboard shortcut to pop me into the pen tool with line mode selected, it'd be a neat little speed up, I'd suggest "\" as the shortcut.
  12. It'd be great to have the gradient editor as a studio panel, I always have a bit of a fuzzy moment when I'm about to apply a gradient, my mind goes to the little stack where I have my colour, swatch and stroke palettes. Rather than the gradient tool or the colour boxes in the top left.
  13. Please could you add an expand stroke button on the toolbar? I think it's safe to have there, it's technically less destructive as the 'convert to curves' button and would be a nice speed up :) Ta!
  14. I use illustrator, sketch and AD. For creating single elements and actual artwork I spend more time in AD nowadays. Sketch has horrible drawing tools, in reality it's all the surrounding features that make sketch good - pages, art boards, shared styles and symbols. These features are present but I've never been convinced they are particularly good implementations. Most of these features are on the road map for AD and making a guess you'll see a good deal of them this year. I'd wager they're going to do a better job of them too. Sketch has a very long way to go to make it a decent drawing tool. There's a much shorter Road for AD to be a decent UI design tool.
  15. Creating rigs was always one of my favourite things about motion. It's a flawed piece of software but I really do have a soft spot for it. Considering Nuke I'd only just starting to get into the hand of more editors and motion graphics people, it also allows you to do that kind of thing. They're called gizmos
  16. Love the live filters! And they're fast too! Would these at some point have the same before and afters as the other filters? Also.. do you really need destructive filters at all? When they are ready for prime time non-destructive should really be default and if you want baked filters then just merge down a layer. Just a thought is all.
  17. I'd avoid it, I generally export everything to pngs for motion.
  18. Matt if you're looking at the colour picker, will you guys bring up auto assignment of the selected colour? Perhaps with a modifier to determine whether a colour is stored in a recent bin or instantly applied to the selected object. I like the idea of having the loupe do a little more, you guys should look at the loupe in xscope for some inspiration, it's a pretty nifty bit of kit.
  19. I personally wouldn't use AP for actual work yet, it's not really ready. Depending on what you're doing you can find yourself in a sticky spot quite quickly without much of a way out. Progress on the beta is good though. I'd agree with others sentiments regarding masks, they aren't really ready for prime time.
