  1. If you create a layout, let's say a list of contacts for an app. You've put in a full list of hypothetical contacts for your mockup. With this, you can select the avatars, for example, click a button and they are all populated with randomly selected headshots. You could then select the name fields and auto populate them with randomly generated names.
  2. There's a really great sketch plugin called craft (By the geniuses over at inVision, who you guys should totally talk to.) it does a few things - stylesheet creation, object duplication etc But! The most useful features are photo placing and data generation. Photo placement Randomises photos from unsplash or a folder (Or dropbox) if you choose unsplash you get the choice of category. It then masks a photo behind every selected object on the artboard. You guys already have photo searching in AP and once symbols are up and running this should be pretty straightforward to implement right? It's killer. Data generation They allow adding text data to selected objects, they have a bunch of options including: Names (Male and or female) Headlines (Selectable topic) Articles (Scraped from somewhere) Dates (With basic formatting) There are an utter arseload of data generation libraries out there, you guys would just be writing an interface around one right? Theres a few tricks craft is currently missing like custom generation patterns (Address would only produce the street for example, so you'd need multiple clicks to generate a full address) These are both quite simple bits and INCREDIBLY useful. I feel theres a bit of scope creep with craft as is, but given the publisher it makes full sense why.
  3. +10000000 I've personally brought this up several times, as have a lot of other people
  4. I believe in you Matt! Take regular breaks and rubber duck a few people, it'll be all good. ;)
  5. A simple one, could you allow us to group objects while in the export persona. It saves some time when making slices, right now you have to go back into the default persona, pre group all of the things you want to slice and back again. This would be a huge time saver.
  6. Hi Darren, Thanks for this, I'm talking more the scripting and plug in end of the spectrum, so users and companies can extend Affinity to do things they want it to, work with their particular workflows better and fit into a technology pipeline. This allows Serif development focus on their roadmap, whist enterprising sorts can improve affinity for themselves, a great example of this is Astute graphics, Nick van der Walle and his team have effectively defined the gold standard for certain tools. Having open routes into your software will also speed up Affinity's adoption into peripheral services like inVision and Zeplin. Help developers port their existent plugins to Affinity and tap into the hacking love that sketch enjoys today, it's a tool that's more deficient in more ways that designer, but you can make it do almost anything if you put a few hours into it, you can't underestimate the value in that. There's also been talk about software usage in the post production and visual effects industries in these forums. Scriptability i pre-requisite for most facilities when adopting a tool, and there are thousands of potential seats out there in these businesses. These are some of the most talented artists in the world, creating some of the most visible work imaginable.
  7. People (including me) have been asking about scripting and plug-in development for Affinity. From what I've seen so far theres been no definitive word from anyone at Serif confirming or really denying that they are even looking at it. It's an important avenue to explore for the continued adoption of these products. I'd love to hear something from you guys about it. Is it even on the roadmap?
  8. The second one for sure, I quite like the second K from the pen tip example, it really accentuates the feathertip
  9. This is an old doodle I stumbled across and finished up in affinity.
  10. I'd recommend you bring in the edges of the banner closer to the wording, there's a little too much space on the sides, it's dominating the image, but not in a good way. I would also recommend removing the outer glow entirely. Also rounding the tips on the banner, taking it a little further away from a primitive and matching the feel of the type a little more.
  11. Sorry miguel, I never saw this. It's an unnecessary step to preset a pressure profile to enable modifying the profile after the fact. Are there any plans to change this?
  12. Coming back to this, git LFS is around nowadays, a git based solution would be epic! No branches, just simple committing. That'd be aces. Just thinking out loud though
  13. Oh I wish python replaced applescript. You can achieve an awful lot with python in OS X. It's also many times more popular. I do like some of the things that can be done easily with applescript, but try and get some community support...forget about it. Every time I've tried something ambitious in applescript, I've ended up scrapping it and doing it in python.
  14. You'd always have to lose a ton of information when exporting to those kind of formats. You're bound by the limited amount of features it supports. A DTP package is a very different beast compared to a text editor.
  15. So Matt, a question on a real world use case. If I were to create a button that says "Submit" for example. I could add a duplicate, detach the text and update it? Also how deep does this attribute based stuff go. In the same example, say my button has rounded corners. I have created two and the second is wider than the first to accommodate my new button text. Could I then update the corner radius on both? Also, do you see a future where you could nest symbols inside other symbols? This has been a common sketch request for some time and for a while (I think they killed it) you could do it in the beta.
  16. If it helps, I'm fairly sure I've heard noises to the effect of future OCIO support.
