  1. Personally I'd prefer matching illustrators keyboard shortcuts, but that's just muscle memory.

I like the double shortcuts, a lot like cinema 4D. More apps should do this. You have gone quite far though...

Also why start at 6 for a polygon?

You've also missed a key for creating lines. I personally quite like it being a mode of the pen too but a direct shortcut would be grand.

  2. Just for the record, I know you can change layer colours :)

In a lot of workflows (Outside of straight up illustration) you use layers to have different states for a graphic or overlays, so having new layers automatically change colour without the slow step of specifying a new colour would be advantageous. Or you could have a preference that determines if this happens or not I suppose.

  3. Not necessarily. You can solve that with a little bit of logic. If you make an array of dissimilar colours you could just pick one "that isn't the current colour" then add that to a bucket with previously selected colours as layers are added so they do not repeat. When you get to the end of the array you can simply start over. Say if you specified 64 distinct colours

  4. Hey Matt,

first off, love it the new text on a path feature, you guys have done yourselves proud. But I was playing with it just now and I did my regular thing wrote something on one hemisphere of an ellipse and the repositioned the start handle (By eye) so my text was level. This has always felt like a bit of unneccesary faff in illustrator and I was wondering if you guys had some secret wizardry planned so we could automatically do this on creation, or just have a button in the context bar for it? I guess you'd have to redo it every time you changed the tracking or scale of the text.

It's late so I haven't put much thought into it but it would be killer.

I think it would only really apply to ellipses but it could be used on diamond shapes too I suppose.

  5. I've been tempted by the Huion tablets but had no reference of people using them in the real world. Funnily I have a cintiq at work, that I rarely get a chance to use (I'm more managerial nowadays, I don't get as much actual designing time as I'd like) but I've always wanted a cintiq at home, I'm very likely to get one of these now :)
