Have you used the outer drag handle to change the size of the object. It will also change the font size as required.

you can try setting the renderer ( Performance/preferences) to WARP which may prevent the freezing, or if you have an integrated GPU try that

Okay, maybe I've encountered the issue. I thought the companies icons were just simple icons saved as PNG like icons normally are but they're saved in a format called ICO. So Affinity just probably isn't able to handle those file types even if they're saved as a appropriate file type afterwards.

You can also always use IrfanView to preview, convert, and so on ..., between a bunch of different image formats!

Can you share one of the PNG files with us?
If you can share one, probably best to Zip it and attach the .zip file.

Perhaps you could try something similar with a different starting image that is sharable?

When you say that you are trying to “import” the files, what are you doing to try and achieve that?
Are you opening the files, or placing them, or something else?
Would you also be able to attach a full-screen screenshot showing us the actual message?

Welcome to the forums @Bango,
Are you able to de-select the Show this Panel on Startup, in the lower-left? If so, can you restart the app and see if that made a difference. You might also try re-setting using the Control run up. Press and hold the Control key while clicking the icon to launch Photo. A dialog window will open, Press Clear, which is in the bottom right.

First of all thanks for your reply.
Deselecting the "Show this Panel on Startup" didn't help. After that I was able to hover over and see every option of each category in the top panel but Photo then stops responding as soon as I click on e.g. "New". However, clearing the user data was successful and Photo now works as intended 😃
