Working with matplotlib pdfs and rasterized export
in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)

I am having trouble with Affinity Designer changing line widths and text when working with pdfs from matplotlib.
Basically, my workflow is to produce multiple figures as pdfs and drag them into Affinity to arrange and make modifications for publication. But exporting the embedded figures leads to rasterized output as discussed in [1].
The solution(?) is then to open the embedded files, copy the contents, and pasted onto the canvas. However, this changes the line widths of the axes, ticks, and plotted data. Also, framed text (which is how the legend and xlabels and xticklabels are recognized in Affinity) does not scale when changing the plot size. This is shown in the bottom two plots of the attached pdf. Ideally the pasted vector graphic would look exactly the same as the embedded plot.
Is there a good workaround when pasting the contents of the embedded figure, or is the improved export of embedded objects coming soon?
