And it's odd that I can use the tool no problem when it is a PNG file, but not when it is a RAW/Tiff file

Oh man Ok I really appreciate you working on this. I'm trying to think of anything else that could possibly be related but besides the details I've already provided, I am not doing anything outside of the "normal" order of go for this specific process.

Unfortunately no, I don't use a tablet I have tried refining prior to doing any edits on the image as well as after doing some manual adjustments, but I have not used any auto-corrections on the images I've attempted. Another side note, perhaps this will be helpful or connect dots, but I am pulling the original images from the Apple "Photos" app to edit. (I currently am uploaded all images from my camera here first and then pulling them individually into Affinity to edit). Could this be causing issues?

Ok so I was able to use the tool with a random small PNG image file I had, which leads me to believe it has something to do with the TIFF file format/RAW files in general? What are your thoughts? Were you able to replicate my issue on your end?

I totally understand, I don't mean to be short, just a bit stressed as I am unable to deliver my clients images and feel bad continuing to delay her I will test the alternative file types today and report back Thank you for your continued help trying to resolve this!

I can try this this though I would really prefer to remain working in the TIFF format to preserve file size I will give it a shot tonight and report back. In terms of the MAC I am using, the specs are as follows:

I just tried it again and it let me start painting the edges before it "glitched" (this is normally when it happens) IMG_3773.MOV

I am ready to rip my hair out quick honestly 😅 So I was having issues with the refine selection tool glitching a few months ago but seemed to have been able to resolve it at the time by turning off the "Metal compute acceleration". Welp....it seems that doesn't work now, and whether it is turned on or off, the refine tool is glitching hard core to the point where it is completely unuseable....right when I NEED it for a project for a client.... In addition, since doing the latest MAC update, I noticed when I re-opened Affinity, the paintbrush/inpainting etc tools are not displaying properly (ex. no matter the size I make the brush it is showing the "circle" cursor unchanged but you click to begin painting and it clearly has changed size.) Right now, the refine selection issue is URGENT!! Thanks in advanced!

Welp, I am having the same problem again, but this time, turning the data acceleration thing off isn't fixing it. I am racing against a project deadline and the fact that I cannot get the refine selection tool to work is really giving me some serious anxiety. Any new developments in terms of other ways to resolve this issue??!!
