  1. Hi all,

I'm having a huge problem with Publisher 2. I'm on a Mac Mini M1, for some reason (this happened before the update, and is still occurring) the top of the window (where the menu is) has completely changed. It looks like its full screen or something, but I'm unable to change it. (see below)

I can drag the window around from the bottom bar, but thats the only way to move it. I cannot click and drag on the top window, I can't minimize it, or enlarge it or do anything you'd normally be able to do with that top menu bar. The regular menu bar is simply not there.

I tried toggling full screen mode, nothing changes. It just goes from full screen back to the above. I checked everything in preferences and nothing seems to address the issue. I tried rebooting, still the same thing. I tried resetting user defaults, that didn't help either. I've also updated to the latest version of Mac OS and it's still the same. And I had this problem before the Publisher 2 update, and after updating it's still the same.

I don't know if I accidentally hit a combo of keystrokes and did this setting, or if this is some kind of bug. If anyone can help me get it back to normal I'd appreciate it.

    Thank you!

To add a fill to a swatch you have to use the little tiny icon next to the swatch name. image.png.b98d21026159fa08afc2db4c4679e265.png

This was an epic tip, thank you Red Sands!

Thank you as well Walt. I could not add the gradient to the swatches from the text, it was text in a text box that had a fill. So, not artistic text or a vector or an image. Here's the gradient I was trying to add to the swatches:

It's just odd to me that I can't right click the gradient in the fill circle, or double click it and add it to the swatches. It just seems very counter intuitive as it is.

To save the gradients (I made multiple), I ended up doing what you suggested first Walt, I just recreated the gradient and put it in a shape and then added it to the palette. That worked fine.

Hopefully this thread helps someone else if they come here searching for ways to save a gradient in Publisher (she said, purposely adding the keyword phrase.) Haha :)

    No.

If you're an existing V1 customer you can get a 25% discount on the purchase of a Universal License, but upgrading is not free. What did you see that seemed to say it was free?

Well I tried checking my history but can't seem to find the pages where I saw that if you had the previous version, you can upgrade for free, and just need to enter in your license.

It's not a big deal at all of course because this amazing app is well worth the price, I just thought why should I buy it if I can upgrade for free? (haha) And yes Psenda, it's possible I saw "update" and took that as an upgrade to V2?

What happened was, I formatted my computer for various reasons and my husband downloaded Affinity pub for me so when I went in and my license didn't work, I realized after checking my account etc. that I had downloaded V2. Cue my confusion. Anyway, thank you so much for the replies! :)

  4. I believe the title says it all, but basically I'm trying to place a transparent image into a picture frame with a background color. I've tried with both PNG and TIFF and they're both placing into the frame, but the background color that's been set disappears. Is there any way to place an image into a frame with a background color, or is the only way to do this to place a picture frame with the transparent image over a colored shape? Thanks in advance for any help or guidance!
