  1. Hi Joe,

I've replied to you via your email to our support team, but i'll answer here for visibility too, essentially Canon's Raw files contain patented adjustments above standard raw definitions that cannot be read by any other software, meaning you'll have to make manual adjustments as @Old Brucedescribed above.

  2. Hi stepfull, welcome to the forums.

Sorry to hear you having issues with stability and thanks for the logs.

Whilst we investigate things, could you try changing your renderer to "warp" as below and try running it without admin privileges to see if this improves things?

Also would it be possible to send us the log.txt from C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Photo\1.0\

Again a problem which should be so easy to do, and IS easy to do in software like GIMP or Photoshop... but seems impossible in Affinity Designer..

I have a white background with a stripe in the middle. Everything right from the stripe should be transparent, everything left should be white. I tried using the selector brush on the right part and pressed 'Delete' but that did not work.

File in attachments, I am curious how this is done in Affinity...

I should have said, but your image is a transparent one itself, (personally i'd recreate these simple shapes with vectors) but if you really want to keep them, just draw a shape on the left hand side to cover make it opaque.

I'd also suggest when working in a vector design program when you wish to have transparency for your output, to lay an image or something in the bottom layer to toggle on/off so you know what's transparent and not.

Here are a couple other photos... the first one shows using the wand to select the empty space on a layer that has not been merged with another.1132696372_ScreenShot2022-07-14at8_47_08PM.png.9e2327cfcb2c01c1166cc0735f3ae2c1.png

The second photo shows the same thing after merging with another layer.618417773_ScreenShot2022-07-14at8_46_07PM.png.c6f9abb3a9f2a8cb6c85f729da4f0749.png

I did try to selec the color of the apparently empty/transparent pixels - the color sliders jiggle a little bit, but the dropper/swatch color does not change from whatever the previous color was.

I can see fairly clearly here that those aren't empty pixels, just very low opacity. when you stack more and more layers of partially transparent pixels over each other they become more opaque. I think this is what you are noticing.

I can not seem to achieve the desired look. It’s still way off. I got excited with that idea .

maybe I could email the working file and someone could take a quick look?

this has been racking my brain for many hours .

  6. Hi Joe, welcome to the forum!

I think the best way to figure out if you think our software suits you is to give the free trial a go, we've got two pieces of software that could do what you need, if you are thinking of creating images that contain photos etc, maybe our Photo software would suit.

https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/photo/     (The trial is at the bottom of the page.)

If you are thinking of making your own designs with shapes etc. then perhaps Designer would suit more.

    https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/designer/

Why not try both and maybe explore the tutorial videos we have on our software located here:

    https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/learn/

Hopefully you'll find something you like and ourselves and our great community here can assist you if you have any questions.

  7. Whilst we understand your frustration, it's simply not possible to grant a second license, we cannot even verify the purchase of a first.

    In Apple's own words:

The Affinity store app and the Apple Store app are essentially different products completely, buying one does not entitle you to the other.

Please refer to this post for more information.

  8. You can get pretty close with adjustments in raw (1st image) but as the edges are soft, you will never get them right, so then once developed you would have use the inpainting tool set to "current layer and below" on a new pixel layer and remove the edges non-destructively.

As you'll see (2nd image) there's still some desaturation on some red tiles as there's not a huge amount of colour information there so you'd have to recolour that area somewhat, even then you'd still need to patch it up a little bit as the manipulation is still pretty visible.
