  1. Recently had a client buy my Indesign license back so I could have an easier go at this. Too many pictures/charts. Too many anchors. 500+ pages. Yea I'm not even going to deal with a copy/paste scenario--or a calibre round-about--that won't work with anything that has anchored & fixed media in it. ePub exported without much issue which was even better than before. Since I now have my license for at least a year back on ID I guess I'll stick there and look with desire at AP waiting to see if they decide to come into the modern age of publishing. Until then this glaring, glaring lack of feature will continue to be many a sore thumb. Oh I also had a client want me to use their Indexing service which AFAIK AP doesn't even touch either. Never used an Indexing specialized person before but I can get it with the size of depth of this project. That required ID as well since they didn't have a plugin or work-flow for AP. If AP wants to be an Apple Pages replacement then I guess that works, but if they want to play with the big kids we're going to need to see a little bit more in the future.
  2. Thanks again Thomaso. I figured it'd be an additional file and I wouldn't need to be jamming multiple dimension pages against each other. Seemed.. odd, if not impossible. I'll talk to the publisher more and keep running under that more clear cut auspice you present.
  3. Wow, that's quite the thread there. Ok, chimed in. Well, that brings me up to date and.. well... ok.. heheh! I guess I have a few choices to make. I'm still early enough if I can get the editor to keep a few things in mind I'll just dual build in Jutoh or rebuild in Scrivener. Or I might go grab a copy of ID and slam it in there and deal with a known cleanup. It really shouldn't be this cumbersome. 🤷🏼
  4. /raises his hand +1 I'd take a sidecar / bridge app that could read a publisher doc and you could triage it into a epub format(s). You map what you can and what you can't it maybe behaves like a better looking Jutoh. I understand epub's, I don't like the format, think it's a relic that should have gone away to something far more useful but we still are what we are and the format and its derivatives have been a known and publicly visible format for a long long time.
  5. First Hardcover I'm working with in Publisher. What's the best way to go about making Endsheets? "The endsheet at the front of the book with printing across the spread is called “F2-F3”. If the back side of the front endsheet also has printing this spread is called “F4-F1”. On the back of the front endsheet panel F1 plus 3/16 inches of F4 will be covered with glue. The endsheet at the back of the book with printing across the spread is called “B2-B3”. If the front side of the back endsheet also has printing this spread is called “B4-B1”. On the front of the back endsheet panel B4 plus 3/16 inches of B1 will be covered with glue. The 3/16 inch glue strip area is used to attach the interior pages to the cover."
  6. Working on a hard bound full color book for a client that is looking to turn this 8x10 into eBook formats. I don't see a path forward at the moment. Searches here come up pretty limited, web searches say to copy/paste to Word..... Reddit's got nothing yet.. There has to be some workflow for doing this and please don't say export to PDF because that hard sets margins and creates basically a flip image book.
