I would probably use "Select Sampled Color" to automatically select black or white, but it doesn't seem like I can use adjustment layers to change the color of black or white. I guess that's because black and white aren't considered colors, so adjustment layers to change the color won't work on them. What method would you recommend for changing the color of black and white? Thank you for your help!

This is what my tools look like. I tried the teardrop looking tools, but they apply a blur to the whole image. Also, they apply more of a pixelated blur, which looks kind of like a bokeh effect. I'm looking for more of a blending effect, rather than a pixelated effect. I don't want to blur the whole image. I only want to create a smoother transition between the light & shadow on specific parts of the image. Since I want to apply the effect to very specific areas, while keeping everything else the same, I need to be able to apply the effect with a brush.

I'm still using version 1 of Affinity Photo. I haven't switched to version 2 yet. All I did was select an area of the image, copy it, and then paste it. I have done this many times before and never had problems with it until this time. I just tried this again though, and the problem is no longer happening. Maybe it was just a temporary bug.

I'm trying to find these tools, but I don't see any tools that have the same exact icons as shown in your image. My icons look different. Maybe this could be because I still haven't upgraded to Affinity Photo version 2. So, I tried to find the tools by looking for icons that have the word "blur" in them. I attempted to use these tools, but they apply a blur to the whole image. However, I only need to blur specific areas of the image. To do this, I have to apply the blurring effect with a brush, rather than applying it to the whole image.

I need to make certain shadows from an image lighter, and make some areas of the image darker. I need to do this with a brush, because I only want to go over certain areas, without affecting the whole image. I want to Lighten & Darken specific areas from the image, but I want to avoid creating Dull Colors when I do this. What is the best way to Lighten & Darken specific sections from the image by using a brush, without affecting other parts of the image? Thank you for your help!

Sometimes I have images where the shadows look harsh. I don't want to change the whole image, but I just want to soften certain shadows by going over the area in between the light & shadow with a brush. I've tried to create a smooth transition by using the smudge tool, but that tends to remove texture and doesn't look that great. What is the best way to make certain shadows in the image a bit softer by using a brush, instead of affecting all of the shadows in the image? Thank you for your help!

I am having an issue with Copy & Paste that I don't remember having before. Maybe I'm doing something wrong here, but I'm not sure what it could be. I selected an area from a photo using the Freehand Selection tool. Then I copied the selected area and pasted it on a different layer. Once this selection was pasted, I noticed something strange, where an outline from the copied area was also pasted into this new layer. So, in this new layer, I have the pasted area, but I also have an outline from the selected area. I attached an image to show you the problem that I'm experiencing. Thank you for your help!

I want to know if it's possible to Clone Stamp at an angle. I'd like to Clone Stamp parts of the hair from one area to another area. However, hair goes in many directions, depending on where it is located on the head. So, in order to do this, I need to Clone Stamp at a specific angle, and then paint at a different angle. Take a look at the image I have attached to see an example. In this portrait, I want to sample with the Clone stamp at an angle, and then paint that hair on the forehead as bangs. This is kind of an extreme example, and I wouldn't typically use it for large chunks of hair. But it can still be useful for filling in strands of hair where they are needed. Thank you for your help!

Is there a symmetry mode for the Clone Stamp tool? I want to use the Clone Stamp to mirror one side of my image to the other side. For example, in the image that I have attached, I wanted to copy the eye from one side of the portrait and paint it on the other side. If I use the clone stamp normally, both eyes will be facing in the same direction, which doesn't look right. I need the clone stamp to be flipped horizontally, so that it will mirror the eye. Thank you for your help!
