Affinity Photo is the best App I've used in 2015.  Post has been sent and wish Affinity Photo can kick Photoshop's butt one day.

I just got a new job and have been spreading the word to all my new coworkers about Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo. Great job on App of the Year! It's well deserved!

    Hello!

We've got a new app coming out - for the latest generation Apple TV (Late 2015)!

It's a learning / teaching tool for users of Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer.

For now, it simply contains all our video tutorial content from the website / Vimeo. We'll of course be adding more focussed, appropriate content over time. We'll also be doing a better job of categorising the content and grouping it together.

If you have an Apple TV (Late 2015) and would like to beta test this new tool - please email tv@seriflabs.com and tell us your email address (the email must be associated with an active Apple ID) - we'll then add you to the TestFlight beta program and you should receive further installation instructions.

    Thanks!

    Andy.

    Hi Fmlfoto,

I have installed the trial of Photo Mechanic and have been able to open TIFF files from Affinity Photo without issues. Please could you attach one of your .Tiff files that is causing this issue? This would allow me to investigate this further :)

what is the point of having LIVE LAYERS & ADJ. LAYERS?

What are the differences ??? apart from behaving differently in the layer panel which create of course creates confusion. A right click or shortcut for deselecting layers would be great for using live layers more freely. Thank you!!!

fmlfoto reacted to DashingDave in How do the items in the Performance pane (Preferences) affect optimization?
I'm curious as to how each of the items affects the applications' performance. There's no explanation in the help files.
RAM Usage Limit: I notice this can be dragged up to ~64 GB (which is more than 5 times how much RAM my Mac has...); does lessening the amount keep the application running smoothly... or do I need to open it up to the maximum amt of RAM I have so that it doesn't get "bottled up"? Disk Usage Warning Limit: This one's a bit confusing--does the application warn you if there's less than the set amount when you try to save a document? Again, the max is set at 64GB, even though my hard drive has 40 GB of free space at the moment. Undo Limit: I presume that the lower I set this, the less RAM the application will need Dither gradients: faster performance checked, or unchecked? Use precise clipping: same question Use hardware OpenGL: same User only integrated GPU: same

fmlfoto reacted to afroniquely in Affinity Designer + future apps listed at Lynda.com
Pretty Much,..I was thinking something similar, because in almost every tutorial Lynda shares it's almost always sponsored by Adobe. Them joining the ride to promote Affinity Products would probably rub Adobe the wrong way, unless there is some contract or clause they can use to do so will still maintaining a good relationship with Adobe.

I look forward to seeing major tutorials however on places like SkillShare, CreativeLive, Udemy (in addition to Ronnie's course that is) and also perhaps real in-depth tutorials directly from the source - the Affinity team! Stuff like designing a UX.UI layout, creating mockups, drawing an elaborate scene in Designer, etc.

Maybe this is a bit silly to ask but I'm a real fan of Lynda.com and the way they teach people how to use software with essential training video's.

Is there maybe some opportunity that the Affinity people can reach out to Lynda.com and provide them with a top designer who knows Affinity Designer inside out. I would really like to have some sort of training course about this software. Tutorials are create and very helpful (thanks) but I think when you really want to start doing things right you need a solid understanding of all the settings, tools and layouts before you can start creating stuff..

I bought Affinity Designer at launch day and to be honest I haven't got the most out of it. When I see video's like this show up at Vimeo I feel like really stupid not knowing such a great feature is part of the app and I'm not using it.

When someone professional teaches you all the essentials you can't miss out on these features and will never forget to use them because they become part of your workflow.

    Thanks,

Edit; changed feature to future in topic title.

    Edit 2.

fmlfoto reacted to MEB in Affinity Photo and plugins
    Hi Johalenn,
We are aware that plug-ins are an important part of user's workflow and we are currently working on it to improve this situation.
Unfortunately it's not as trivial to solve as it may look. There's other limitations involved besides direct support from plug-in developers, like the Mac App Store sandboxing requirements.
As soon as there's news/improvements regarding this we will post them here on the forums.
Please bear with us while we work to get there.
