  1. Sorry, I forgot. I'm using the latest version of Photo on a Windows 11 desktop.
  2. I have a two-monitor system for photo editing, one is vertical, since I usually edit portraits, and the other is horizontal. I start the program on the horizontal side, open the file and drag its frame to the vertical side where I open it to fill the monitor. This leaves me the horizontal side to arrange tool panels on. I enjoy working this way, but there's an annoyance that I don't know how to solve. When I open an adjustment layer, its slider panel always appears on the vertical side under the file I'm working on, which forces me to shrink the file window to find it and drag it to the horizontal monitor where there's plenty of space for it. Is there a way to get the program to remember to place that control on the horizontal side?
  3. That did it, Michail! That checkbox for my version is marked "Matte" which I was unfamiliar with. Danke schön
  4. Thanks for the reply! I'm exporting it as a jpeg. I took a look at the preferences and didn't see what looked like the appropriate setting. Is this option there?
  5. Used to be that if I cropped a photo to a proportion that left clear (checkerboard) space visible, that space saved as white when it was exported. Now it saves as black, which I don't want. A setting has been changed, it seems, and I don't know where to look for it. Can somebody help me, please?
  6. Flatten did it, of course, thanks for that and for explaining what was going on with the new layer. Back to editing!
  7. I'm new to Affinity Photo, so I'm still acclimating, but I'm having a problem with what's been a no-brainer in other editing environments. When I hit the Merge Visible command with all layers or no layers selected, I create a new layer. What am I doing wrong?
