Ben got a reaction from RemN in Sneak peeks for 1.7
Regarding the Pixel crop tool (for resizing and cropping the document, not the vector Crop tool) - I've already rewritten this for 1.7, so if your issues are with this tool, wait for 1.7.

I have a little more refinement. I figured, if you are going to use the polygon mode, you ought to be able to edit the polygon you are placing to fine tune the selection.
So, will be able to click to delete a point, drag an existing point to reposition it, and drag mid-line to insert a point. You will finalise the selection by hitting Return, or closing the path by clicking on the root point, or dragging the end point onto the root point.

I'm thinking about also making the polygon mode Undo/Redo aware - so you can undo and redo changes to the selection polygon until you commit it.

And, for anyone who wanted Lasso node selection...

To use it, in the Node tool with a curve layer selected, you just hold Alt and either click to start polygon mode or drag to start free hand mode.

Because I haven't got anything I want to show you...
I've done some general work, adding Presets to various tools and grids. Not really worth putting in a video - it'll be fairly obvious when you get 1.7.
I have also worked on a couple of tools for Photo, but they are not ready to demonstrate.

No - I am a core Affinity developer. I've done large amounts of the common back end code. I've just spent a lot of time working on tools in Designer as they tend to be more involved than pixel based tools (which tend to operate around pixel selections, which we already have).

Yes - you have to have the layer/object selected first, then the unselected handles become visible - you can then select the handles using one of the three selection methods. It was already like this for the Node tool curve node selection. Until the curves object is selected (in the Layers tab or on the page) you can't see the curve nodes.
You can also select multiple Curve objects, and select nodes across any of them. Curve nodes selection effectively works as a sub-selection for a selected Curves object.

Steady on. Not a great way to motivate us.
Priorities doesn't necessary just mean what we think is important, but also what things have to be done in a certain order, and whether those things collectively also are more important than other features which need attention. It is also a balance of how much work is actually involved in what might appear to be a small feature.
I have just spent months refactoring a lot of our internal tools in order to facilitate faster future development and enabling editing features across tools. This was a big task, but the few changes and additions I have made off the back of this have already demonstrated that this was time well spent. Now, as a user you will have no idea of the scale of the work involved in changing our internal framework while preserving the current functionality of our tools.
Software development is a fluid beast. Only as our code base expanded did it become clear that things could be achieved in a different/better way. Due to a lot of commitments already made, the changes I wanted to make got pushed back a number of times. I have now made them, and 1.7 will come with some significant additions - though the scale of work to implement them might still not be obvious to the end user.
This thread is to show a raft of new (hopefully innovative) features that are in the pipeline, and you are accusing us of pretty much doing nothing to improve the software...!? All of these additions will achieve 99% of the use cases that have been thrown up (while not tying you to a very limiting grid based drawing method) - the only exception being the ONE use case where you want to be able to easily replicate sets of curves built previously using known grid positions for handles. (If I am missing the other use cases, you will have to explain them individually). AND, I have already made many comments as to why this feature will conflict with our current tool usage, but I think I have even said that we will try and add it. So what is the problem? You are not going to be getting 1.7 Beta just yet anyway, so why is this turning into a rant? We have heard your request, and while I would personally argue that placing curve handles on grid produces a very limited artistic scope, I will accept it is the way you like to work.

Ben got a reaction from RemN in buy it or not buy it, is the question
Sorry, I am not really sure what you are saying? No basic tools?
As for development time, we have developed our apps a lot faster than some of the big competition (no names). Our v1 release is more feature rich than most first release software. As for "not knowing where we are going" - you could not be more wrong!!! We have a very good idea where we are going, but our policy is to only release features when they are up to a standard that we are happy with. Pushing out a half-baked solution just fixes a poor implementation in history - as is very clear in some other packages where they are now "stuck" with some bad choices.
And, one thing we are definitely NOT doing, is just copying Illustrator! Try reading some professional reviews on that front.

I understand your enthusiasm, but try to put yourself in the devs' position, being bombarded with tons of feature requests that might only be used in a specific situation. You've been suggesting a ton of stuff in the past few pages, and I'm not saying it like it's a bad thing, but think of a way to implement it or give your ideas more thought then post a list of requested features instead of making pages after pages of spontaneous ideas.
