When using the textbox in Publisher, I constantly have to go back to the tools to select the black arrow to deselect it so I can then use the move tool to place it where I want.
Is there an easier way to do this?

Thanks for the explanation. if I tick the box "convert and warn" I am not been warned at all, is this normal behaviour

It must have some profile while you're working on it.
If this is the case, what is the option for in the preferences where it says "Convert opened files to working space"

Is this what you're looking for:
Preferences > Colour
uncheck 'Convert opened files to working space'
Done that but it still convert the image to a working profile

I want to make an untagged document, one which does not have a profile attached to it but cannot see how to do it.
I can easily make it in Photoshop but then when I open it it Affinity photo it always assigns a profile. on the fly

Try using Greyscale with the scope.
Bingo, thats worked. Thanks for pointing that out

If I have a grey object with a Luminance value of say 60%, I would have thought that the scope intensity value would read 60%.
Setting the luminosity to 100% makes the scope display 100 and setting the luminosity to 0% makes the scope show 0 but the values in between don't seem to represent properly on the scope.

Hi @IanBarber,
I've tried to replicate this on a new file but i'm getting different results,
Could you attach the original file that you have used in your screenshots?
Can you post the one you replicated so I can see what results I get

This is a mismatch of using HSL on a Greyscale document. If you use a grey scale colour mixer you'll see 60% being 60%.
Unless I am doing something wrong, when I use a Grey Channel Mixer or Color mixer I am still not seeing what I expected

@v_kyr I did try this in a Macro but then quickly realised that what you had said is correct which is very frustrating.
If you set the Scale option in the Macro Library panel to Min Fit, I am sure it worked every time on any image. I never tried it it but I also think this option is Global across all Macros in the Library which if it is could lead to issues for other Macros in there.
Do you know without me doing a bunch of testing if the Scale is Global to all.

💡might be getting somewhere now, sprw gives the spreadwidth so might be able to use that.
sw works but only for that one document unfortunately

See related the APhoto ...
Do you have a working example of using these expressions in input boxes. Cannot seem to get these to stick

You do know that if you enter "w" into a dialog box you will get the document width?
John
Can you please explain a little more

With some of the software I create, I am thinking of supplying a PDF help type document for the end user so I thought about using Affinity Publisher.
For those who have experience in this field, what do you suggest as a a document size with all these different devices we have these days.
Do you go with A4 Portrait, Landscape or even some other size.
It was much easier back in 1989 when we all used 640 x 480 monitors

When you record the macro, and do a Paste, the contents of the clipboard at that moment is recorded in the macro. That is what will be pasted, whenever someone runs the macro. it does not simply record "do a paste". It records "paste <this exact thing>"
So therefore you can safely give someones else the Macro and it will run correctly ?

@v_kyr I have a question regarding this please.
If you copy the text and then start a Macro recording to paste and then export the macro and give it to someone else, will it still work ?
If the answer is yes, then I am unable to figure out how the Macro knows what to paste if there is nothing in the clipboard.

Hi @IanBarber,
Welcome to the Affinity Forums

As Bruce has mentioned, this issue is already logged with our developers & I'll be sure to 'bump' this issue with your report now.
Unfortunately the only workaround I'm aware of currently is to use the above suggestion, my apologies.
Thank you Dan fir the reassurance.

I tried that but still didn't work for me.

I have the latest Drivers for my Wacom Tablet on Mac but when clicking on a Macro with the Pen, nothing happens.
Is this likely to be addressed by support ?
-
I was creating a Macro but needed the current document width to start from.
I have managed to create a work around for now which should work
-
@v_kyrthanks for clarifying that.
Does Affinity Photo have any scripting capabilities or API's you can use do you know.

Thank you for that, that will certainly speed up my workflow. Not been using Publisher that long so still finding my way around it
