  1. @Callum It is really hard to believe that Affinity would do something so utterly stupid, but at least thank you for being honest. Affinity admitting there is a serious bug would be so much less shameful than admitting to having intentionally made a faulty function. Anyhow, if this is working as intended, then please tell us what steps we should take in order to find, for example, the word can't in a document since simply typing it in the Find box does not work. Is there some way to type a smart quote into the Find box? Also, can you let us know if there any other symbols that Affinity does not know how to search for, or is it only apostrophes and quotation marks?
  2. Yes, I have pasted smart quotes into Publisher, but this is still must be a mistake from Affinity and not how they intended the Find function to work. Google, Word, and probably every other computer program don't differentiate between different kinds of apostrophes and quotation marks when doing a search because this would be a terribly foolish and thoroughly unhelpful thing to do.
  3. I am using Affinity 2.2.1 with Windows 11. The title is self explanatory, and it doesn't matter whether it is something I typed into Publisher or copied and pasted from Word.
  4. Highlighting some text and changing the word spacing with a single action would be far faster than having to highlight individual spaces.
  5. Thanks. I guess I should have known that because it was under the paragraph heading it would apply to the whole paragraph. And thanks to both of you for suggesting the space-by-space workarounds. I don't know if Affinity employees read this forum, but having word spacing apply only to whole paragraphs is a really dumb thing to do. It would be great if this mistake can be fixed in a future update because the workarounds take a lot of time.
  6. In Publisher, to adjust tracking for just one line (or any unit shorter than the whole paragraph) I just highlight the desired words and adjust the tracking. But when I do the same for word spacing it adjusts the whole paragraph. Is there some other method to do this or did I find a bug in the program? Thanks.
  7. Ok. So, the short story is, I don't need to do anything now while making the document - just leave it all as is - and be sure to check those export settings when that time comes. Is this right?
  8. I set up a new document (for a paperback book) and chose grayscale/8 in the initial set-up box. But when I add a text frame, it is CMYK with values of 72-68-67-88. Is this correct, or should I change the text box’s setting to grayscale too? And while I’m here, are those the best CMYK settings for type, or should it be 0-0-0-0? Thanks.
  9. I will soon be typesetting my first book in Publisher. There's lots of ingo on how to import a Word file into Publisher, but nothing I have read so far discusses whether formatting in Word or Publisher is better. Presently the only formatting I have in the file is underline, bold, italics, and bullet points. I assume it would be best to do headings, paragraph indents, smart quotes, table of contents, and everything else in Publisher, but would like to get confirmation. Thanks in advance.
