    For the original cube graphic, if you convert your shapes to curves I think you'll get what you seek.

    I think that the very fact that there are so many different implementations of the autotrace functionality that provide different and often completely unsatisfactory results, and that there are specialized companies that have made a very good business out of it, clearly points to the fact - that it really not easy to implement. Otherwise, everyone would write the ten lines of code themselves, and not have to turn to a professional solution.

    Utter nonsense. Using dedicated tools for single special tasks is the correct approach. Not recognising this is failing. I wouldn't want Designer doing 3D renders either, although I need them in quite some of my clients' work.
    As @Pšenda already stated—and I agree with the "often completely unsatisfactory" part, which is true for most implemented auto tracing features in other design apps:
    Dedicated apps for such tasks, which solely concentrate on creating a useful output, are there for a reason. It's by far not "an easy thing" to implement, otherwise Corel's or  Adobe's built-in vectorisation probably wouldn't fail that often.

    Bearing in mind that there are pretty decent free or inexpensive third party options out there, I think it is a waste of time to code it into Designer. In fact, I don't rely on one single tracer, having two already installed plus an online one, as they provide different results. So, for me, having one more tracer built into Designer should be nice, but absolutely not important.

    No idea why this is important for some people. Buy the software for what it can do and the way it does it today, not in hopes of new features down the road. I would never buy software with the idea that the features I need will eventually come out.

    Valentín Benavente got a reaction from ashleypowell962 in noise reduction not working
    Hi;
    I'm having trouble with the develop persona. All the options work correctly except the noise reduction one; I'm able to use it, make the changes properly to the image, but when I hit the develop button those changes are lost. It only happens with noise reduction, any other setting I use works fine and remains after develop. Did anyone encounter something similar?
    Thanks;

    Hi;
    More a question than a request, let me know what you think.
    Currently, if I apply an adjustment over an image, when I close its window the adjustment keeps selected, forcing to manually select the original layer in order to perform other tasks.
    For example: let's play with the levels... ok, it's good. Now let's apply some focus... mmmh ¿why is it not working? Oh, the layer is unselected. Now let's apply some intensity... but I'm seeing some noise; as the noise filter doesn't work well yet, let's go to develop persona. ¿What? ¿An error message? Oh, it's the layer becaming unselected again.
    I'ts a bit annoying... ¿Should be more logical to keep the layer you came from selected after applying an adjustment?
    What do you think?

    Hi;
    I've noticed that I cannot make multiple selections. I mean, I use the marquee tool to select an area, then press Shift and use the marquee tool in a different area. The first selection area dissappears. This happens with any selection tool, including magic wand.
    Missing something?

    Thanks;

    Valentín Benavente got a reaction from dianeea in Easily change between single page and artboard
    I still don't like the existence of two separated document modes, but thinking of it there's only a couple of things that annoy me a bit. One is the different background color, topic that has been discussed already. Here's the other:
    I open a single-paged document, with a frontpage designed, for example. Hey, let's create a smaller version alongside it... I create a new artboard and pop! the original page dissapeared, and my design is now floating in the pasteboard. I know I can previously create an object that fits my page, convert it to an artboard, drag my design to it (in most cases the design dissapears, I need to tell AD that it's related to the artboard) and then create the new one. Complex. Or work directly in artboard mode by clicking 'create artboard' when creating a new document, but as there're now some features that work in single page but does not in artboards (unclip to canvas), I might want to start with single page. Or did it by mistake.
    So there's the feature request (finally! thanks for reading): When in single page mode, if you create a new artboard, AD automatically converts the original page to an artboard with its content already related to it. If you can add this, I even think that the 'Create artboard' checkbox when opening new document won't be necessary anymore, as single page has its pasteboard now.
    Congratulations for the good work, as usual!

    As we're in the 'feature request' section... may I suggest to add the 'Insert Artoboard' option to a menu? I didn't know it even existed, probably becouse it only appears when the artboard tool is selected. I don't need this now that I know how to do it, but it might be useful for new users.

    That's something I don't really understand. What are the advantages of working in single page mode? For anyone that doesn't want to use the pasteboard area, the simplest solution is not to place anything in it. Having a 'single page' mode and a 'artboard' mode is confusing.
    The only thing that really changes, currently, is the pasteboard color. So I think that it will by far more logical to open everything, even new documents, with the pasteboard enabled (there's no single page, it must be a single artboard), but with the option to change the background color.

    Anyway, I must report the same 'clip to canvas' issue: there's no such option for me in the beta.

    Congratulations for the work, however!

    Valentín Benavente got a reaction from Stokestack in Why is artboard creation buried under an unrelated tool?
    I don't agree with the behaviour you expect; I find logical to modify the attributes of the object selected, no matter the tool you're using.
    On the other hand, I must agree with the tool/panel issue. If there's a panel to perform a task, that panel must show everything related to it, with no need to look for an additional tool; that's confusing, difficult to learn, and annoying. I don't like the artboard tool also. An artboard panel should be much more interesting, and a simple 'create artboard' option in the layer menu, much easier to find. If someone likes the tool, its great that it exist, but currently we all need to have that tool in the palette, and adding more and more tools to the palette is not desirable.
    The eyedropper does not help in this disorganization. By instinct, I look for actions that need click, point, drag, etc in the tool palette... but eyedropper is in a panel. Not the first place I will look for it.

    retrograde, yes the cmd + shift + V works well in some instances but most times I spend so long turning off any fx and gradient that was in the original shape that any color picker works faster.  If the cmd + shift + V allowed the user to select which attribute to copy, then it would really be a useful feature.

    Hi, Pedro;
    I think the way artboards work in AD is very logical; each object relates to one artboard, so it is not visible in the others. It has been discussed earlier.

    Cannot open the app, as AP beta asks for a purchased copy in order to be launched (I already have purchased it, of course). I've downloaded the beta twice, with no result.
    Any ideas?

    Well, the problem was that the button moved from the right to the center when I selected everything, and I missed it. I thought it dissapeared. :( It's not the first time I cannot find something that is in front of me.
    Feeling a bit stupid right now.
    Thanks for your patience!

    I agree with JDW. Furthermore, I've been forced to start over a complex selection becouse if you un-press the shift key, AP closes the selection, no matter if you wanted it or not. I was thinking on posting the polygonal lasso independent tool as a feature request, but your CapsLock idea will be perfect as well.

    Valentín Benavente got a reaction from Saltommeister in Zoom marquee disappear with AD update 1.3.5
    I think that new zoom system in AD works perfectly, and I've noticed that if I select the zoom tool and press alt key, it behaves the old way (selecting a rectangle to be zoomed).

    However, the same key is also used to 'un-zoom', wich is confusing. Furthermore, if I press alt key when in zoom tool, the symbol changes from '+' to '-', with no clue about the actual zoom that will be applied if I draw a rectangle.
    I think it's better to use different keys for different functions, as the current behaviour is confusing. Or maybe change the zoom icon, becouse the '-' symbol doesn' suit with the current zoom behaviour.

    Best regards;
