It just enters isolation mode. Showing you only the layer or mask you select.

You hid the Pixel layer , leaving only transparency . If you hold ALT/OPTION and click on mask layer , it will show only the isolated mask. Unless I have understood your problem incorrectly.

K = 100 is black. So all other slider will have to be black. -

Maybe I misunderstand what you are trying to do , but can you not just place the text below the image in the layer stack ?
