Hi @pruus,
There's an issue currently logged with the developers with the file export menu UI endlessly stacking as you cycle through the export options with a bluetooth mouse connected, based on your screenshot it looks like the same stacking issue occurs when switching between the General and Margins and bleed tabs in the new document interface. To confirm if they are the same issue, try disconnecting your bluetooth mouse (if one is connected) restart the app and then try finger tapping to switch between the two tabs.
If it does work and you want to keep your mouse connected, there is a workaround: Try turning off 'Reduce Motion' in the iPad accessibility settings will hopefully prevent this happening and allow you to keep using the mouse to cycle the UI settings.

No Problem, I've attached a video below of my file for reference of what I found worked for me by selecting the group layer in the layers panel, the snapping rule then kicked in even with an active mask layer.
-
Thanks for the recording, I've replicated this and logged it with the developers. It does appear similar to the bug with the style picker so i've linked it back as related to that issue original issue and made reference to the fact that the style preview does not accurately display the gradient stops.

Hi @Bob Rastall,
Sorry this one has slipped under the radar, I previously raised this internally to see if I can get hold of a OM Systems Camera to test this with, I'll chase this up again so it can get it replicated and then logged with the devs.

Hi @Hangman,
Just focusing on passthrough, I've created a PDF file containing a single spot colour on a rectangle set to overprint and then exported it to v1.7, I've then placed that PDF on a new Pub document with it set to passthrough and then exported that pub document to PDF 1.7, after opening the file in Acrobat I can see that my spot colour has been retained and the overprint on the object inspector shows as 'True'.
For comparison, I also opened up your 1.7 passthrough PDF and checked each page with the object inspector on output preview, the overprint value shows as True for all Non PDF-X pages on the Pantone spot colours along with the 3 colours labelled 'Overprint'.
It doesn't look like it's possible to retain the overprint property on Interpreted PDFs despite spot colours being retained, i'll have to check internally if this is possible or needs logging.
With the Passthrough PDFs, have I missed/overlooked something?

Are there any benefits to use the sandboxed version?
The forum thread below lists a few pros/cons of the .MSIX/sandboxed apps. 🙂

Hi @Masai Vandaali welcome to the forums,
It looks like you're using the sandboxed .MSIX version of the apps which can cause issues when trying to launch the app from external applications without using the 'aflaunch.exe' execution alias workaround.
There is an alternative installer offered for the V2 apps in the form of the MSI/EXE installer, this is not sandboxed and allows you to set a custom install location similar to the V1 installation. I would therefore recommend uninstalling Photo v2 and then installing the app via the .EXE installer, I've linked a forum thread below which goes through how to download the apps via the .MSI/EXE.
Once you have installed the app via the .EXE, you should then be able to link your external app back to the .EXE in the custom install location similar to how it worked with V1.

Hi @evtonic3,
There’s a known issue currently logged with the developers regarding gradients applied to strokes not always applying the gradient stops correctly when applied to a different object via the style picker tool, I’m wondering if what you have described here is the same but with the regular styles.
Could you possibly provide a sample file/screen recording which demonstrates the issue? I can then confirm if this is the same problem or requires a separate issue to be logged.
Many thanks!
-
Hi @Maxdanger,
I've replicated this issue and it has now been logged with the developers for further investigation. It looks like the problem occurs when there is no active selection of the group layer when a mask is clipped, the 'Snap to Object Geometry' rule is only snapping the pen tool to the masking curve rather than the nested curves inside the group, if you select the group layer in the layers panel and then use the pen tool, it should then snap to the curves.

Hi @MSwainDesigns welcome to the forums,
- Which app version are you running, are you still receiving this prompt after updating to the latest update (2.1.1)?
- Does it make a difference how you dismiss the prompt, E.G press close, if it still prompts on the next launch try the 'X', if it still prompts try using the ESC key?
I don't re-receive the 'thanks for updating' prompt after re-updating from 2.0.4 to 2.1, so it could be failing to update the flag when the app next launches due to a problem in your local user settings (possibly preferences.dat). If you installed via the standard .MSIX installer, try renaming your Designer folder which should be found by opening Run (Win + R) and then enter in the following:
%USERPROFILE%\.affinity
Once you're in this directory, rename the 'Designer' folder to 'Designer.old' and then try launching the app again, it should prompt the message but hopefully on further app sessions it is no longer prompted on launch.

Thanks for uploading the file, on 2.1.1 Windows I can see the exact issue with the incorrect hyperlink being populated in the dropdown list, even though the target Anchor is correct, the dropdown populates incorrectly with the first anchor in the dropdown when you want to edit the link. On Mac this problem does not occur, the dropdown always show the correct anchor, in the case of your example screenshots it shows as 'TOOLS'.
The good news is the issue appears to be fixed in the 2.2 beta, as after opening your file in the 2.2 beta app and then right click > Edit hyperlink the properties displays the correct Anchor. I would recommend giving the beta a try if you haven't already, I've linked the signup page below.
https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/affinity-beta-program/
Note: make sure to make backup copies of your files before opening them in the 2.2 betaapps, as once you save the file it cannot be opened in the current release build (2.1.1) again.

Hi @Motljus,
Could you possibly provide us with your .afpub file so we can investigate further? I have provided a private upload link below if you do not wish to share your file publicly.
https://www.dropbox.com/request/VbdR2Ug0nuS5VFC1UMF5
Also, was your .afpub file originally created in V1 before you began work on it in V2? Could you also confirm what version of Publisher you're running?
Many thanks!

Hi @Hangman,
This issue is very similar the issue you found in the thread below with the embedded passthrough PDF dropping the embedded resources when exchanged between different devices, though in this thread you've also demonstrated that this issue can be replicated by simply renaming the external PDF resource results in the same issue along with the incorrect DPI reading after replacing the resource, I've been able to replicate this issue in 2.2 so i'll create a new issue and then link it back to AFB-7890.
Many thanks 🙂

This raises another seemingly new bug, as you will see in the screen recording the pdf files are embedded in the Publisher file but there is a discussion taking place in another thread where when saving a Publisher file with embedded PDF files using PDF Passthrough and then opening the file on another machine the embedded PDF files are shown as Linked and hence missing.
If I download the Crop Marks.afpub file I uploaded in my previous post and reopen it the files are shown as embeded but if I close the Publisher file and reopen it the embedded files then shown as Linked and missing from the Publisher file...
Great Catch! I hadn't even noticed that when I opened your attached file originally, I had just seen the missing resources prompt, seen they were all missing in the manager and closed it down.
Your .ZIP file contains the PDF files with the policy set to linked but has correctly linked them back in the folder (even though they should be embedded), I've replicated this one between my Windows and Mac Devices and I'll get it logged as well.
-
Thanks @Hangman,
I'm definitely now seeing the second issue on export using min/max content on the placed PDF's with your file so I'll get this logged.
Regarding the crop marks issue, do you mind sending me the file again with the resources set to embedded? The file is currently empty as the linked resources are missing. I can't think of a valid reason for passthrough PDFs adding mask layers which remove the marks, so I'll get this logged with your file.
Regarding the app hang when changing the PDF Pagebox setting, I've still not been able to re-produce this on my M1 after a few minutes of changing the PDF Pagebox setting with all three pages in view, the app remains responsive and Activity Monitor reports no change in memory usage. I'll re-try this on an intel Monterey and Ventura mac for comparison.

someone on another forum said it might be a Wacom thing
Looks like you're right, In the Wacom Center you can create and customise on-screen shortcuts in the form grid panels, these exactly match what is shown in the creators video, so he will of created a custom grid panel and shortcuts for Designer.
-
Hi @Bobby Beetle,
These custom shortcut/macro windows look like they are being managed by a 3rd party application, I've not seen these before though so I wouldn't be able to comment on what specific program, perhaps the original creator or another forum user will be able to shed some light on what program they used. 🙂

Hi @Mainecoon364,
Your recording demonstrates that you have drawn a 4 node closed curve with all four nodes selected, therefore the following can be observed:
A) Join curve is disabled as you only have the nodes of a single already closed curve selected, to use this function you would need to have the nodes of two separate, unclosed curves selected, you will then be given the option to join the curves to form a single object.

B) Close curve is disabled as you already have a closed curve selected.
C) Reverse curve on an unclosed curve swaps your selected node to allow you to draw from the opposite end, on V1 desktop and V2 iPad you can also show the orientation of the curve when it is reversed but I don't have V1 on iPad to check if this can be toggled currently.
The V1 help guide linked below gives an overview of each of these functions.

Hi @tomefrati welcome to the forums,
The thread you have linked is from 2018 and in reference to V1 which is no longer available for purchase, V1 used product keys and allowed for offline activation. The V2 apps no longer use product keys and requires an internet connection to activate the apps, as your product eligibility is checked and the apps are activated. After that point the apps no longer require an internet connection.
For standard users offline activation is not an available option, this is limited to multi-license users (Business and Education) which is a completely separate purchase. I've just seen that you currently have an active email discussion with us, so we'll continue to support you via email to avoid confusion.
You can find out more about business licenses and get a quote from the page linked here: https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/business/

Hi @Andreas CH,
Opening a V1 file containing a picture frame with the Move tool set to Default/Standard still correctly selects the picture frame for me, not the image contained inside it like what's shown in your recording, I even changed my app language to German just to be sure that isn't a factor. Are you definitely single left clicking? Double clicking will always select the object inside, also if you set your move tool to 'Groups' on auto select and then back to Default/Standard does it still cause the same issue?
Could you send me the V1 document shown in your recording?
Thanks

Hi @Hangman,
Using the original PDF files that were a part of AFB-7740 in a new document in 2.1.1 I've not yet been able to re-produce the issue with the page box change causing a hang, or the second issue with exporting to PDF after changing the page box settings to Min/Max content on passthrough, when I re-open the exported PDF the content appears as expected without any unusual crop/misplaced content. However, I also cannot re-create AFB-7740 and Paul mentioned he is now also unable to replicate this on 2.1.1. This was on an M1 Studio Mac running Ventura 13.4 with H/A enabled.
- Are you still able to re-produce AFB-7740 on 2.1.1?
- Could you possibly provide me with two screen recordings for the changing Page box hang/ PDF export crop? It would be much appreciated since I can't re-produce them.
It's hard to say for certain that the issues are indeed one and the same in terms of the cause, so if I'm able to re-produce the issues I'll log them separately and link them back to AFB-7740.
Many thanks

Hi @tetsujikenny welcome to the forums,
The red circle on the brush in the brushes panel indicates that you are working on a modified version of that brush (Likely since you have edited that brushes properties locally under the 'more' button) and it is no longer following the original settings.
In the brushes panel, if you de-select that brush and then re-select it you should find that it has reset back to the standard blue highlight. The affinity help guide linked below is a good place to start with if you're running into any issues.

Hi @Andreas CH,
I believe the selection behaviour is being determined by the move tool's Auto Select context setting, with the move tool and no layer/object currently selected along the context toolbar change the dropdown to the right of 'Auto Select' from 'Objects' to 'Default' and then try selecting your picture frame again.

Designer and Photo keep crashing when trying to move layers
in V2 Bugs found on Windows

Hi @D_Poppins welcome to the forums,
Many thanks for the level of detail along with your recording, I've got a few potential solutions and follow up queries below:
- Try disabling 'Hardware Acceleration' Under Edit > Settings > Performance, once the option has been unticked restart the app when prompted to and repeat the same test again.
- On your recording I didn't see a popup however it could be GPU/Driver related so I would recommend installing the latest drivers available and when prompted to, tick the 'Clean installation' box. If you already have the latest drivers installed, try re-installing them with the 'clean installation' box ticked, this should be fairly straightforward to do in GeForce Experience.
- If it's still failing after the above, to help rule out if it's GPU/driver related, within the app settings > performance swap the 'Renderer' option to 'Software' and then close and restart the app when prompted to and try again.
---
Queries:
- Does this occur on a new document in Photo, or does the crash only occur when moving layers in an existing document?
- Could you provide a few recent crash reports after encountering the crash? The forum thread below details how to find these.
Many thanks!
