  1. I realized I'm using soft hyphens (Shift + Ctrl + space) a lot (which, by the way, does not always work?!), so a great way of making changes to the hyphenation dictionary would be to just save soft hyphenations a user has made somewhere and then have a checkbox whether or not you would a) like to save the soft hyphens you insert and b) use that user-generated secondary dictionary (so to speak) for your hyphenation.
  2. I would like to add vertical gradients to text which goes over multiple lines, with the gradient being "reset", so to speak, with each new line, so that every line is basically treated separately.
  3. Yes, it happens to me all the time as well. It should just be a little less sensitive.
  4. I would like to suggest adding the 'paste without formatting' option to the right-click menu as well. I use it fairly often and think that's the most convenient placement for it.
  5. Oh, yes! I tried to name my pages some weeks ago and forgot about this. But it would be useful sometimes.
  6. I'm still not entirely sure, but it seems to me that we actually want the same, but you want even more control?
  7. I saw in an InDesign tutorial that InDesign actually has the option to create a grid with x * y cells and spacing between them. This would be very close to the functionality I suggested.
  8. I'm pretty sure we're misunderstanding each other. Right now, Affinity always uses the last directory navigated to as the default directory when importing AND exporting. It just saves only one last directory for both, which is, in my opinion, often bad. With my suggested change, you can, of course, still use the same directory for everything (let's call the folder 'All the Stuff' for clarification), while you could ALSO choose to use 'Stuff I want to import' for importing as well as 'Stuff I have exported' for exporting by simply choosing these directories when importing or exporting, respectively. It only improves the current situation, there are no downsides at all.
  9. If I have a layout that includes a few images and I want to export, say, a JPG, it would be cool if Affinity could calculate the maximum size of that exported image based on the images includes (so that they don't exceed 100% scaling).
  10. Yes, I could create a template for every format I frequently use. But that always uses the same size, doesn't it? I would like to create any kind of document (A4, social media posts, a flyer, you name it) and add, like, center lines or thirds to it fast—you know, just guides that are widely used anyway and useful for many different designs regardless of their type. I mean, there are some best-practice crop settings as well, why not have something similar for guides?
  11. Why would that be the case? Affinity would open the same folder every time you import, because usually, the stuff to import is collected in one place. It would then either open the SAME OR A DIFFERENT folder for your exports, depending on what you chose last when exporting. This can either be the same folder as for imports or a different one. Everyone wins here, unless I'm misunderstanding what you mean.
  12. When I start a new document, I always begin by adding a few guides: width/2 width/3 width/3*2 same for height Some people may even want to add more guides than that. It would be awesome if there was a way to add halves and thirds, maybe quarters by a simple click, or alternatively, a way to save guide setups (with 'h' and 'w' as variables, since not every document has the same size, of course). Another alternative would be to simply have a few best-practice setups that can be added with a single click.
  13. I would like to suggest different default directories for import and export, because I think that usually, people have their files organised in different folders for their source material and their exported layouts. Right now, if I add a new image to my layout from my 'Resources' folder, Affinity will offer to export to that folder, so I have to navigate to my, say, 'Instagram' directory. Then, maybe, I want to add a new image to the layout, so I place an image frame and have to navigate back to the 'Resources' folder in order to add it — and so and, and so forth. Maybe Affinity should save two directories (one for imports, one for exports) instead of one (for both)?
  14. I'm currently working on a rather lengthy document where I manually check and modify hyphenations, since I noticed they are not always correct by default. I know there is a way to alter the *.dic files, but this is a) very cumbersome and b) doesn't always seem to work (for whatever reason). In LibreOffice Writer, for example, you can just add new entries in the options menu and mark hyphenation points with '=', so you can easily add a new entry like 'Af=fi=ni=ty' and it works perfectly. I would like to suggest that you think about ways to make hyphenation modifications a little easier for the users. It should at least be possible to add new entries to the dictionary or modify existing ones from within the application.
