  1. Attached is a screenshot of what I found in ‘Preferences’ — ‘Performance’. Is this correct or is there another location for the changes to be made? I’m new to all this so still not sure how to de-activate OpenCL as suggested.
  2. Thank you all again for your efforts. The smaller PNG image still resulted in a fragmented image when I export to PDF so the problem doesn’t seem to be the size of the PNG, only when the Tiff is the source file for the PNG. A JPG source file (for the PNG) exports to PDF okay. Should I just be rasterising the image once I am happy with its’ place on the document? If I download the document I uploaded here on the forum and open it and then export it to PDF the result is a fragmented image. So considering neither of you were able to replicate the problem it possibly is a problem on my computer after all. I’m using a mac NotMyFault, how do I deactivate ‘OpenCL’. There are 3 other options along side OpenCL in the box so it seems that one must be chosen, which one? ‘Software’ ‘OpenCL (Basic)’ or ‘Metal’? Hardware Acceleration is greyed out in Preferences.
  3. Thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated. I have attached the file here and sent the image plus file to the Dropbox account stokerg af-file.afpub
  4. Tried to attach the smaller png file Lagarto but got error code -200 and it wouldn't load NotMyFault, is HW acceleration in ‘Preferences’ ?
  5. Thanks NotMyFault, I have only just started using Photo and Publisher so this document is a basic start with the programs and only has the masked image and one page. No filters used or grouped layers just the masked image and no other objects etc Lagarto, the adjustments were done before the file was placed. I developed the raw file and converted that to a tiff. The tiff was opened in Affinity Photo, masked and then exported to png which was then used in the document
  6. Thanks for the suggestions Lagarto. I tried the default PDF(for print) and PDF/X-4 with the same result. Also just dropped the resolution to under 674kb and same result. The downsample images box is checked and also tried without downsampling checked and the same. Only basic adjustments like shadows, white balance, etc were made to the original raw file Curiously though, I just used the image I uploaded here and like you couldn’t replicate the problem. I'll keep working at it.
  7. The original png was 41mb (linked not embedded into the document) so I have reduced it to attach here. Still the same fragmentation when exported to pdf though
  8. I am having difficulty when exporting a document to pdf, specifically regarding a png image file that has been inserted into a document. The image looks okay when opened on it’s own before being used, however it becomes fragmented once the document it is on is exported to pdf. I am using a tiff file with a selection made to mask the back ground, then exporting this as a png file. This png image is then inserted into a document in Publisher. If the layer/ image is rasterised, it is okay on export to pdf however there is a slight loss of detail. If the same document is exported to jpg or tiff there are no problems. Am I making an error somewhere in the process? I have attached a screen shot of the fragmented image after export to pdf and the original image Any suggestions would be appreciated as I am new to the whole process. Alternatively is there a link to a tutorial or guide as I can't find anything specifically dealing with saving a masked image that has solved the problem Regards, Mick
