[Advice needed on design by beginner]

Hi Folks, 

 

Not sure this post fits in anywhere on the forum but being as this place is full of really helpful experienced people I thought I would try it anyway.

 

I have been playing around with a design (AD) for a t shirt I am looking at getting done. Would anyone out there be willing to have a look at my design and offer some "creative" feedback on how I can improve it. Every day is a learning day!

 

Sorry if this post is not appropriate to the forum. Any chance a form could be set up on here for such exchanges between designers to share ideas? just a thought.

Ah I hadn't thought of that... One thing though is it possible to move more than one node at the same time? I have created the triangle and converted it to shapes but by adding two nodes in the middle just distorts the whole shape too muchif you understand what I mean.

I may be missing something here.... I just tried that but the grey stripes just disappear underneath the other layers. In short I have a base white layer shape followed by the black "curved" shape over top which then requires the grey stripes to be inserted into it. 

I just tried creating grey oblong shares and using the 'divide' tool to remove the excess but this resulted in my black shape being distorted as it had started life as a triangle but I used the corner tool to round the edges. As soon as I select the 'divide' tool the rounded corners revert back to the original shape. 

 

I am very confused  :(

Hi MBd, 

 

I just tried that but that only seems to allow me to bend each side of the triangle shape inwards or outwards. What I need is a normal isometric triangle but then with the top point bent over making the shape look like it has been bent to the right. Sorry it is hard to explain.

So heres one for you. Can you bend a shape, in my case a triangle? I have a series of triangle that need to have a slight bend in to give them that more fluid look. possible or not? and if so... how???

Yeah thats what I am after but the stripes will each need to be a different width, any ideas?

Hi Folks, 

 

Happy new year and all that blah....

 

Quick questions, How would be the best way to go about adding a separate colour within a shape?

 

I have created a a shape with a black fill and now within that shape I need to further add grey stripes/blocks. I need them to fill it accurately. If it was a square shape then no problems but this is far from square and has curves all over the shop. Any ideas? no doubt you will have, hence why a reply on this forum like nothing else  :huh:

I managed to sort it. I just had to make sure that all the strokes had Scale with object selected like you suggested Alex. The only thing that is still causing me a slight issue is that the text is not scaling with the rest of the object?!?

I have tried your suggestions but no joy. Each time I resize the image my stroke sizes alter (or don't alter as the case may be) and so does one of the shapes within the design (A rounded corner triangle). Not sure why this would be, I am still total newbie to all this really. Think I may just have to start the whole design again but start with the correct dimensions this time, annoying  :(

Hi Folks and a very Merry Xmas to you all,

 

I'm after some help again for a change. I have a project I have been working on and I now need to submit it to a specific website. Here is the issue...

 

The project was created with the original document being set up as A4 size (Not sure why I picked this size but I did), I have now found out that my design needs to be submitted firstly in .jpeg format but also I am restricted to submitted it in the following dimensions... Width - 900px Height - 500px. I have tried simply set up a new project with those dimensions and then just drag my project into it and select my whole design and re-size it using the hold down shift and grab the top corner method but this totally throws my design out. The text won't re-size and some of the brushstrokes are still way to big. 

Is there are easier way? I am not familiar at all with the export persona but was wondering if there was a way I could use that? Any ideas folks?

Actually... I do still have a  questions. So I have managed to restore my layers panel on the left hand side... however.... As you can see from the screen shot none of my layers are appearing in the layers panel. This has happened since the 1.4 update. Any ideas?

Cancel my last question, I solved it. Just double click on the floating window and it goes back to it's fixed position.

I had something similar on one of my projects but when I did the final export the gap had vanished, although when you re-opn it within Designer the gap appears again.

Turns out I just had to select 'reset studio'. Not sure why it all changed though after the 1.4 update. Is there a way to have the tools window fixed rather than floating too? Again it changed after the 1.4 to a floating window.

Newbie here again. Just updated to v 1.4 in Designer and opened up a project I was working on but I don't have the layers window open on the left hand side anymore?!? How do I get this back?

[2 Basic questions for the price of one]

Hi Folks, 

 

Newbie Mark here again. Quick question for all you experienced people. What tool is best to use if you just want to draw a simple dead straight line? and this sort of brings me on to questions 2. When using the Pen tool do you have to complete the lines, i.e join the nodes together or can you end it at any point? Does that make sense?

Thanks for the help again, just one issues though. When I try to change the stroke colour so that I can see what I am doing nothing happens?!? It just stays the original grey colour. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Folks, 

 

Me again asking daft questions. Can someone have a look at the attached file and explain to me how I can "cut" the canopy section out and leave that area blank? I will then need to put a similar shape within that hollowed out area but leaving a thin boarder between the new canopy shape and the fuselage. Make sense? thought not, but hopefully someone out there can make sense of what I am trying to do. Cheers again folks.
