  1. when layer effects have been applied to a layer there is a visual cue in the layers panel showing this ("fx") - it would be great if the same were true for the transparency tool. personally I would love to see these visual cues added to the appearance panel too - where you could quickly open the layer effect modal and toggle all of them off/on (just like fills and strokes). p.s. please also add the ability to add the same layer effect multiple times to the same layer - again, these could be ordered on the z-axis via the appearance panel, as presently true for multiple fills and strokes thanks
  2. to help differentiate between overlapping curves and nodes when multiple are selected, it would be useful if paths and their nodes could be (optionally) coloured differently for each layer/path selected. e.g. select 2 paths, one is blue with blue nodes (default) and the other is orange with orange nodes. When nodes overlap, it would then be easy to know which is on top without having to move anything first. it would also be nice if you could change the default colour from blue (or set a "default layer colour"). thanks
  3. ORIGINAL CONFUSION "as it stands I have no idea what the "synchronize defaults from selection" actually does? the default style for a new object is just the last used style, and reverting just reverts styles back to the saved default, not this "temporary" one as expected. "edit > defaults > save / revert" work as expected - but are not "temporary" should there not be a "revert to temporary" as well as a "revert to saved" option? That would be a truly useful" SOLVED & A SUGGESTION I) Doesn't work as expected: okay, my confusion is just that it doesn't work as expected. I assumed I could select an object, synchronise those as temporary defaults, continue designing and then at some point in the future click "revert" and the style that I had selected when I clicked "synchronise" would magically be applied. I assumed that this was simply a temporary version of the more permanent "edit > defaults > save / revert" - which works exactly that way - but the default is saved globally for all new documents. II) How it actually works: How it actually works is that you need to "synchronize" before you start to draw your new object. Not afterwards. You can only revert the style of an object retrospectively to your globally saved defaults - "edit > defaults > save". Not to some other "temporary" style To apply a different style, you must first select the object of the style you want to use, then click "synchronize". Now when you draw the new object that "synchronized" style will be applied. Otherwise, the style for new objects will always be whatever was last used for that object. III) How I would love for it to work I would love for it to work as I had initially assumed. However, rather than leveraging the current "revert defaults" button to encompass "temporary" default overrides too, I would love there to be a "revert to temporary" button/option also. This would be scoped to the current document only, and would temporarily override the "saved" default for this document, until you click the "revert to defaults" - and then the defaults would once again return to your globally saved preferences. That would add great consistency and also great functionality. I hope this also helps summarise things for anyone stumbling across this with the same confusion thanks // originally posted here

  5. after focusing a panel input field with the mouse, such as stroke width, it would be great if "esc" would enable keystrokes to once again control the canvas, rather than entering values in to the input field. A keyboard alternative to clicking the canvas again. thanks
  6. +1 - for: - global symbol libraries - an organised and hierarchical symbol panel which groups and nests symbols based on a specific naming convention (e.g. from figma: "If you use a slash-separated naming convention, we will group those components together in the Instance menu. e.g. file / page / frame /**name**/") - swapping/replacing symbols on the fly, in a similar fashion to sketch/figma
  7. Often when overlapping or intersecting paths, we must pause or revisit a point on our path which overlaps another to add a node to it at the exact same position. This is a process that is exaggerated in affinity due to the absence of a vector flood fill tool, as we must break and join paths at points of intersection to achieve consistent fills. The idea would be to add functionality to the pen and node tool, which ideally could be toggled or accessed via a modifier key (on click), that would add a node to both the current path and the one we are intersecting or overlapping beneath. This may even be the same path. When combined with the "add new curve to selected curves" option, this would somewhat mimick Figma's "vector networks", whereby nodes can have more than 2 paths. A marquee node selection at a point of intersection would select all nodes on every overlapping path, allowing you to easily reposition that point of intersection. The difference would be in modifying any node handles, which would need to be done on each path separately, instead of at a single node, as with vector networks. thanks
  8. +1 for adding more than 1 of the same effect to an object. - as mentioned above, very useful for light and shadow effects
  9. +1 for a shortcut to increase stroke width with the pen/anchor tool, thanks
  10. for a different take - here is figma's implementation using their vector networks - where each node can have more than 2 paths. Personally, a big fan.
  11. idea/suggestion: if a group is selected with the move tool (v), then switching to the node tool (a) should select all the child elements - rather than the group container itself - as this can't be modified with the node tool anyway (meaning, at present, you then must again manually select the child element(s) in the layers panel before you can use the node tool). this would be a huge timer saver. many thanks
  12. It would be great if you could increase the height and width of shapes by just using the keyboard this is present in figma - where ⌘+arrow keys will increase/decrease the width (→/←) or increase/decrease the height (↓/↑) by 1px. ⌘+⇧+arrow keys will perform the same function, but with the super-nudge modifier (so, 1px*modifier). this is very handy. thanks
  13. +1 for bulk renaming of layers and artboards +1 for a renaming shortcut - clicking on the layer is very tedious and cumbersome thanks
  14. +1 for setting parameters first +1 for a dedicated alignment panel +1 for "key object" (first/last selected) shortcut options
  15. +1 for renaming layers shortcut - ⌘+return - in affinity designer
  16. small suggestion: as with the pen tool, where: ⌘+hold gives access to the node tool - it would be great to replicate this behaviour for the node tool (e.g. via the same ⌘+hold) to access the move tool (when no nodes have been selected). more rapid and temporary move tool selection would allow for quicker adjustments in moving entire objects & groups without switching tools first. thank you
