Yes It's so annoying, that we get forced into a feature that a couple of people demanded. Please integrate a toggle for this! This is also not something I wouln'd want to switch quickly, so you can put the toggle in the preferences. This really slows down my working process since I work with geometric forms a lot and a round the corners with different radius's. Also this is counter intuitive when using the shape builder tool. In General: Please think about your change management. When you implement a change like this, keep in mind that you might have users that do not benefit from it because it's destroying their workflow. It's ok to force the change on people so they can experience the change, but make it optional after all. In Addition: I know you have a lot on your plate but just as a suggestion. When you change something that already worked in a particular way you could add a small comment popup next to the tool with an info like "We change the behavior of this tool. Click here if you want to know more or don't like it" and than it opens up the help article that describes how to deactivate it.

@stokerg I use the vector brush tool very seldom, but I just tested it for you and can confirm that the bug applies as well to the vector brush. As soon as I deactivate FX in the topmost layer/group the issue is gone. Also I tried another freehand tool. The knife does not have the same issue. So it seams to be a problem with the rendering rather than the free hand/form/flow action.

Not sure. Since 2.0.3 I have an issue with adjusting line thickness when the document measurement is set to px. That's why I uninstalled and went back to 2.0.0.

@StuartRc Yes I think this is a bug and the Devs should look into it. Aspecialy since this bug is already in V1

@StuartRc I can confirm. This works like a charm. Just had to deactivate the one FX (Outline) I had at the topmost layer and it worked. No Lag. Thank you.

Not sure if I understand you correctly. Do I have to go into each layer with active FX and deactivate it there or is there a fast way I'm currently unaware of.

I have massive lack with the pencil tool I had this issue already with V1 and nothing changed. (https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/155786-lag-with-pencil-tool-in-groups-or-objects/) I’m currently using 2.0.0 because with 2.0.3 I have a problem adjusting stroke values (My document preferences are all set to pixel and not points). For this summery I installed 2.0.3 to test it though. I can reproduce it on V1 and V2 for Windows but not on really on iPad. It happens over time. The Problem never appears in a fresh layer. It happens only withing curves that are within groups. See attached file Additional Info: Windows 10 (21H2 – 19044.2364) AMD Ryzen 7 2700X with 32 GB Ram (of which 16GB can be used by AD) with a GeForce RTX 2070 hardware acceleration is on ON it’s the same when its OFF I have this issue with a Wacom One, with my XP Pen Artist 24 Pro and also when using my Logitech MX Ergo trackball. My main screen is a 4K Monitor. No display managers or anything. I use MS Power Toys but have Fancy Zones deactivated. Updated all drivers but no change. Uninstalled Logitech Options. No change. I also tried all tablet input methods without success. I’m not sure if this ever worked. It doesn’t happen all the time but more often the longer I work with a file. I feel like the lag is getting worse the deeper I get into the layer structure. When I create a new layer, I can paint without lag in the same file. I feel like I have this issue sometimes with way less leg also on the iPad version, but this could be totally unrelated. Am I the only one with this problem? So far I could not test it on a different computer but if no one has this problem I would try it out on another PC. Regarding the attached file: It's easy to recreate it if you double-click on the dots on his shoulders and than select the pencil tool to paint in the same group/layer. Ok so it’s not the line it was FX Outline and it’s also there if I transform it to curve. No problem with the line.

Could not find anything on the matter. Fill overlaps line of a trapezoid when I use perspective warp “to much”. At a specific point it simple jumps over the line. Let me know if you need the original file for analysis.

I understand that people are unsatisfied with v2 at the moment, but I’m sure the people at serif are reading most of this and will improve. It is still one of the main alternatives. Adobe destroyed the market 15 years ago when they bought macromedia. And when all serious competition was gone they used their monopoly and switched to subscription based licensing. That’s why most of us are here, because the full suite is a fraction of what we would pay at adobe. Of course there are other alternatives. But what I love about the affinity tools is that their general user interface is similar over all three products. I could not make the switch from photoshop to Illustrator because it was so different. But enough ranting, Affinity Crew you need to improve perspective warping and I think it’s mainly a usability issue. Please consider our idea’s and suggestions and make this great software even better. Thank you

@MoonaticDestiny sorry but that’s not true. We were both wrong. It was possible both ways in V1 it just depends on the user. But now you can do it only in one direction and as in the past it selects and deselects.

Sorry my bad, I figured it out. They changed the direction. Instead of swiping from right to left you can now quick select by swiping from left to right. That’s something for FAQ or the knowledge base.

Maybe it’s just me, but I really don’t like the new context menu I get when swiping from right to left on objects in the layer panel. Again this might be a problem only I have because of my workflow but in the past it was way more convenient to select objects within the layer panel. The context menu really slows me down.

@MEB From my side consider this topic closed. I will do my tests with V2 and if it still happens I will create a new post there.

probably another feature request. @MEBsorry I started this here. But great that @TonyO has already created one. And I can not say this enough. With all our "nagging" here, we still love the software and are happy about a lot of the changes and happy that you did not switch to subscribers license

Well it seems possible since this trash icon is available for: note tool(when note is selected) pen tool (when line is selected) fill tool (when fill is selected) Even though I would like to have it where it was, I would understand that it has to move to the current position at the top from a design point of view. But please make it also available in: move tool (when something is selected) note tool (when something and not just a note is selected) pencil tool (when something is selected) all shape tools (when something is selected) Good thing is that V2 did not replace V1 because the missing trash button really makes my workflow so unenjoyable that I rather use V1. @MEB Since you mentioned the Quick Menu, please make it available in "Preferences - Pencil - Tool" because this would also be a great asset for pen users to quickly use this. When I'm holding a pen switching to gestures is possible but rather clunky.

Yes snapping and especially for perspective warping I would love some centering function. So basically the stuff you usually get with shift/one finger and ctrl/cmd/2 finger for normal transform.

I would also suggest to just add the affinity photo warping for images in affinity designer. I think it would even be ok and make sense to switch to the Pixel Persona for that.

I miss it dearly as well. The reason for that is simple. While drawing with the Apple pen I don’t like to switch to gestures because it breaks my flow. Just taping on the Side in the otherwise almost empty bar with the pen allowed me to delete my last line without switching hand position. I would really love the see it back because it’s not just about muscle memory but also about workflow.

Hi @MEB, oh man I did not see the reply and I've been using the iPad version for most of my free-hand drawing for the last 6 months. Yes I have a pen/tablet: XP Pen Artist Pro 24". (I'm not entirely sure If I had the problem already with my Wacom one) I have an RTX2070, 32 GB of ram and a Ryzen 2700X. So the thing I noticed is that I have almost no problem when I'm drawing in a new layer or on top of everything. But when I'm drawing within a shape or group it get's worse the deeper I get into the substructure within the layer panel. I just tested it and I have the same issue when drawing with my trackball on my main screen (but the XP Pen Tablet was still attached). I don't have this problem when I open a fresh document. The problem seams to increase the more layer and groups I have within a single file. If I send this file to my iPad I don't have this issue.

I'm doing a lot of free hand drawing. One issue I already had with 1.7 and it hasn't improved, is that there is a massive lag when I use the Pencil Tool in groups or object layers. My workaround is to draw on top of all other layers and manually place it in the correct group or object. I have the feeling that the lag increases the more I zoom in.
