I am also in desperate need of this request. I purchased Affinity Photo not knowing this basic function was missing. I mostly used photoshop for masking, and I moved to Affinity Photo to continue to do this, but I am now regretting my purchase, as masking is so much more cumbersome without this feature. It's incredibly worrisome that this has been requested for 3 years now and hasn't been added.
