I would like to give an essential update: we have now just stoically waited out the "frozen" state when loading Affinity files in the individual applications (Photo, Designer, Publisher).
After 1 hour and 48 minutes Affinity Photo actually reported back and opened the file. After that, it is now actually possible to open all old files in all three apps (Photo, Designer, Publisher) without any problems... so far.
However, it seems to us that this problem cannot remain unnoticed. Not everyone has the patience and time to be stuck unproductively for such a long time.
For now, at least, it seems that the solution is indeed to simply wait until the Affinity app reports back. No matter how long it takes.
At least it's a solution that seems to cause the least loss at this point in time.

Thanks for your questions. As mentioned in title, using 2.1.1
It happens with no particular categories, with every drawing session it keeps freezing every 10-15 minutes when changing brushes (pixel).

Thanks for your report and I'm sorry to see you're having trouble!
I can confirm that there is a known issue in 2.0.4 that can cause crashing when zooming and re-rendering, especially in 'heavier' documents and I believe this is what's being shown in your screen recording.
This issue has been resolved in our latest beta version, 2.1 - which we're hoping to release shortly. If you wish to try this version in the meantime, you can download and install it alongside your retail version, using the information found here - 
Please note I recommend using a copy of your 2.0.4 document within the beta, as once it has been saved in v2.1 you will no longer be able to open the file in 2.0.4.

This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.

If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.

Thanks for your report, we're certainly sorry to hear this layer is not recoverable at this time.
I can confirm we've had this issue reported a couple of times previously and logged with our developers for V1, however as I understand it we're yet to see a report for V2 and our team believed this issue was resolved.
Therefore can you please confirm for me:
What version of Affinity Designer are you running? (ie 1.10.6, 2.0.4?) What model of iPad are you using? What version of iOS is installed? What are the dimensions of the document in your screenshot? Many thanks in advance!

Hi Nedde, Thanks for your feedback! In Designer, the issues appear even if I only have 1 layer (pixel layer).

I agree, at least it helps to simply restart the app. Let's hope it get fixed soon!

Hi iuri, I experience what seems to be the same problem on Designer V2 for iPad. I've reported it a few times to the team (see Walt's link). So far for me the last update helped. I'm not often using Photo but I will give it a try see if it occurs as well.
 

Vector Assets for InkBrush Project 
Added a mixed set of vector patterns to supplement Inkbrush Project 07 containing:
Geometric pattern textures (Red)
Organic pattern textures.(White)
I was going to add these into an asset library but the compound paths may be a bit too large...So I have done it the old way as 'letraset sheet'

AD 1.7 file contains 2 pages consisting of 50 vector patterns created directly from inkBrush sets for Geometric and Organic Brushes

Hey guys......so I was working on my new course...and got the the lesson on making brushes.....sooooo I had to amek some brushes. 
 
I made a set of fog/ smoke brushes in raster and a set of silky smooth stroke brushes for your vector applications. 
 
I have learned so much from the people on the site....I wanted to give back, so here ya go . I am working on new blog post and some new art using them....so I will keep you in the loop
