Yes that worked. I assumed that since it was already a png file that it was already a raster based image. 

Can you explain this? 

So many new things to learn with this software. Thank you.

Hello, Placed image in Affinity Designer. Then I went into Pixel persona and using the free hand selection tool drew a line around part of image.

When I try and cut and paste it the whole image gets deleted. And when I paste it, the whole image gets pasted onto new layer. I am only on the one layer when I do this. Tried this with several selection tools they all do the same thing. 

What am I doing wrong?

Yes it is finicky. I still really like the program and having another option over illustrator is a big plus in my book. Would love to see a trim to line feature. 
I will still use the program for my line thickness then trim it out manually in another program.

Hi, thank you for replying so quickly. 
So do you mean you have to adjust the nodes by hand to intersect the circle stroke more than half way so this doesn’t happen. 
I was trying to use this technique to save time on an ongoing project I’m doing. 
The other program I am working with doesn’t have stroke thickness and ability to combine shapes.

Hello, I am new to Affinity Designer. Please forgive me if I am in the wrong area of this forum.

I drawing lines with butt cap ends making the stroke .128" wide. Then expanding the stroke and joining the parts together.

The results are not what I was looking for and I think if I send the file you will see what I mean.

I'm sure it is something I am doing wrong. Please Help.
