  1. I'm new to using Affinity Software, use publisher mostly. Just checking on policy, I have V.1, to get V.2 it is a paid upgrade, right? Well worth it, just making sure that's how your process works. Each version update is a paid update, and it will recognize my current settings et. al. in V1? Thank you
  2. Just an update, so seems paying attention WHERE I'm puttig the text frame in the Layer stack made the difference. Again thanks for the help.
  3. Thanks Walt and Bruce, I'll pay closer attention to the layers.. appreciate the help
  4. Well this is what happens. Are you saying the text fram is within the wrong layer?
  5. let me see i I can answer Old Bruce, with my limited understanding of this Program. 1. the Master Page is 2 page spread each page having individula image frames. 2. I add pages in my page panel by selecting add a page, 2 pages, After x page and selecting the Master page mentioned in 1. 3. I add an image to the new page, which has the Master Page Image Frame. 4. I add a Text Frame, over the image just inserted in the Image frame. 5. I write my Text, and move the cursor away from the frame to grab the move arrow/cursor. As I move my cursor away from the Text frame it displays the xs in the cornners. But not all the time. I'll try your suggestion with the clicking off the page and see how it goes. I does seem kinda poor design if I'm having this much trouble simpley adding a bit of text. Thanks for your help.
  6. this is fresh master, no text frames, just a picture frame. I have learned the master page process and how ti works with related document pages, which is nice, however the master page has NO text frames only one single Image Frame. I have used your suggestion for the Edit Detached and allows me to edit, thank you. Howver the master in question shows no text frame, is there a "hide" function or something I could have initiated without knowing? Thanks.
  7. So I have a fresh clean new master, only layer on is and image frame. When I add a text frame on top of the image, and place my text in it, sometimes, not always, the frame "locks" with the lttle xs in the corner. There layer is un deletable and have to go through history to remove it. I've look at the history , and physcially select undo until it gets tot he point of entry and can not see any step that would have locked the frame. I'm on a iMac with Monterey 12.2 and Publisher is current. I admit I am new to this program. As metioned in the subject I've read many of the post that would be similar but no suggestions have helped. I've looked in the styles for characters to see if I adde something or sparked some auto routine but can't seem to find anything. Thanks
  8. according to the bredcrumbs up top, I'm here: Affinity on Desktop Questions (Mac and Windows)
  9. EDIT. Well seems it's working, now I musta had something set wrong. or was importing the file wrong. Seems if I drag the file (image) from the middle of the 2 page spread it seems to work ok. Hello. Recent purchase of Affinity Publisher to work on some photo books I'm putting together with a more professional look. Coming from using other software the interface and basic features are throwing me for a loop while trying to format pages for print. I find that some basic functions are hard to find like a basic drop shadow for text seems non existent, unless you just duplicate the text in a different color, or use stroke outlines. So I'll adjust. One thing I can't seem to figure out is how to do a two page spread for an image. I'm thinking maybe it's a margin thing, which I tried removing but didn't seem to work. Even though the final document is saved as single pages PDF, I've done this before with other software. Just wondering there is something I'm missing spanning and image across two pages. Thanks.
