I like that swatches now can be really big:

I hear you, but still; Serif had already an application more than seven years ago with features that now are still lacking in their current application, how bizarre is that? How much time does one need to adjust existing code?
I begin to think that Serif has only two or three developers.

Maybe Serif should consider to re-release DrawPlus. Seriously.
A lot of users will probably be more content with it then they are now with AD 2 (...).
I personally would buy it in a heartbeat if it's less than E 35 and has offline activation. In fact, Serif would probably have been better off giving DrawPlus a GUI makeover and calling it AD 2. 😄

It doesn't even have to be a major calamity. Imagine the Internet is down for a week or weekend (power outage due to weather, cable severed by hapless construction crews, etc.) and you still need to complete a project. If you have the software installed on a desktop but now need it on a laptop because it has a battery and the desktop doesn't, you wouldn't be able to activate the software to use it.
Yes, this!

Why it should be? I have backups and don't connect this old Mac to the internet for security reasons. When CS2 was shut down adobe provided new universal serial numbers that don't need activation any more.
As far as I know, that's not what Adobe did with MacroMedia FreeHand, they just discontinued that, despite of a lot of users complaining about it ...

And what are you doing when that OSX install isn't usable anymore?
Or if you get a new computer?

It appears to only require online activation. That is to say, once activated, it doesn't need internet connectivity to run.
I registered mine, then blocked all traffic using my firewall and the application still functions as normal.
The point is, if a few years down the line, Serif/Affinity was bought by Adobe and then discontinued by Adobe, to kill the competition (...), and you bought a new computer, then you could no longer install and run v2 because you could not activate it anymore.

You should not encourage or entertain this, you already paid a lot of money for the software. Currently we're just loaning the software which can be taken away at any time. It's not good.
No, first of all, I paid very little money, compared to what other, similair applications cost.
And secondly, if you would have a version with offline activation, you could use it as long as your OS supports it, just like v1. -
I wouldn't mind to pay more for a version with offline activation.

The greatest thing about PSP7 is that it still installs and works, no problems even on modern machines. That will currently not be true for the Affinity 2 suite of software as they require activation servers to install and those servers will be taken offline some day.
Yes, and that is very unfortunate. Let's hope that Serif will change its mind about the online activation or will come up with a solution, maybe offline activation for the 'exe/msi'-variant or something.
Note to Serif; I wouldn't mind to pay more for a special version with offline activation.

A few years ago I saw a statement from one of the Serif employees and it didn't make me feel any better about this new online activation implementation, I can't find it but in essence it amounted to 'no software will work forever anyway so it isn't too important'. I think it was on a pre-purchase question thread about V1 activation.
'No software will work forever', but some can work for a very long time;
I still have PaintShop Pro 7, from 2001, which I still use from time to time,
on Windows 10. 🙂PaintShop Pro, btw, is another example, next to FreeHand, of an excellent
application which was destroyed after a buy-out... -

You're aware that you can make the UI font larger in the preferences, right? (All the acompanying bugs notwithstanding for now.)
Really, how? I searched for it but have not found it.

I would suggest creating a helper .bat file that will invoke the App Execution Alias. I've used a .bat with this content for Photo 2:
I do not want to open AD2; Stream Decks needs a reference to AD2.exe,
Stream Deck wants you to manually select AD2.exe in a browse window,
so it gets 'linked' to it. -
GUI font still way too small on high resolution monitors.
In light mode, active buttons are still 'grayed out' which is very confusing, because 'grayed out' means 'not active' to the rest of the world.
I am also quite dissapointed, I will stick to version 1.10 for now, will check again in a few months. -
Also, in Stream Deck, you have to select an 'exe' file, but that doesn't work with the WindowsApp-folder.
So how do I link AD 2 in Stream Deck? -
When creating a Slice in AD, I sometimes experience 'snapping' and I don't understand why that happens.
See example below.AD is snapping, only on '3000', and nowhere else.
My canvas is higher than 3000, so it is not the canvas edge. Why is it snapping at all, and why specifically and only on '3000'?

You set it up "Makes icons display in greyscale" in Preferences?
I cannot find this setting, I must be overlooking something. Please provide a screenshot of its location.

I am working with Affinity Designer for quite a while now, but I still cannot get used to the non standard coloring of the toolbar icons.
You see, in all other software and OS's that I have used in the last 25 years, it is always the case that inactive things are gray.
But in AD, surprisingly, it is just the opposite, the gray icons are the ones that are currently active, very strange...
Every single time, when I want to activate something, I have to stop and consciously think about it.
Like, 'OK, I want to 'snapping' to be active, normally the snapping icon would be colored, but this is AD, so in this case the icon must be gray to make snapping active'...I'm curious, anyone else having this problem?

When I export a small Slice on a Artboard to PNG, (on Affinity Designer for Windows desktop),
the result is always transparent, which is not what I want. (FYI, my Artboard itself is non-transparent).I know I could do File / Export... and then set the 'Matte', that will fix the unwanted transparency ,
but then the full Artboard will be exported instead of only my small Slice. So my question is:
How do I get a non-transparent export from a small Slice on a Artboard?

Also, imo, it should be possible to pick a color for guides.
