Just a little thing really but  - currently, as soon as artboards are cloned they appear in the layers panel under the same name, and it's difficult to know which is which without clicking around the place. Of course they will eventually get proper names, but it would be lovely if they just named themselves Artboard 1, Artboard 2 etc when cloned.

My next question is: do you think it will it ever be able to export to an InDesign format like it can a PSD? Unless industry standards change I need to be able to deliver editable layouts in a commonly-accepted format. PDFs won't always suffice, sadly.

Slightly off topic but, any chance of getting a little tweak on the "show selections in layers panel" preference for the 1.6 roll out?
 
Just a suggestion and I do love and really appreciate you adding that pref but it would be great if as you click on a different element in your document, the previous element layer stack re-closes... otherwise you end up with a layer panel that is crazy long.
 
It's a workflow thing and again, just a suggestion. :-)

I just stumbled upon this. I don't really understand the decisionmaking process which shortcuts should be costumizable and which ones not. I hope i don't sound ungrateful. I just wanna know :)
 
Maybe you could put it into the Layer-Menu in the Menubar, easy as pie, ini't?

This was a great feature within Freehand - which I AFAIK illy doesn't have  - would tie in well with affinities great focus on node level productivity and power.

I tried creating three artboards and a layer above them to place the text.
I created several text boxes that reside in the area of each artboard but are inside the Text layer, above all artboards.
The text doesn't get attached to the artboards. This means that, if I want to organize the artboards (move them) and have the text move also, I have to select the artboard and everything inside it.
Possible to make it work, but cumbersome :(
Well, I can get used to this. I was just too used to the way FreeHand had it implemented.

I'm all in for a separate artboard panel.
Layers are not artboards.
FreeHand had it separated and it was great.
I used to have a layer named Ref where I would put all the images (usually bitmaps) used for reference or tracing.
Also, a layer named Text where all the text would go.
And I could turn off the Ref of Text layers to hide them in ALL artboards.
Being able to do this sort of organization is tremendous.
 

Nothing is stopping you from making that system work under the paradigm Illustrator uses. However, the reverse is not true. Having artboards mixed with layers makes some things impossible while the other system doesn’t. Mixing them is the worse of both options.

The move tool has a small arrow on the lower right hand side of the icon, if you click and hold it you'll see a flyout with the Artboard tool icon on it.

Just need to figure out, how to display bleeding on art boards, is it possible?

I'm not sure why this is so poorly supported across design apps  - even Photoshop (at least on the versions I own) doesn't have it and the only straightforward game in town seems to be Fireworks.
 
These days, most of my exported files for web site themes are 8 Bit PNG with alpha transparency.  it just makes sense.
 
And it's quite a wrench to the workflow to have to jump out of AD just to make these conversions and manual optimisations in another app. There is quite an efficiency hot as it's not just a matter of running a conversion script, each file has to be individually reoptimized from 24 bit with transparency down to 8 bit, selecting the colours etc
 
 
Please could this one be a priority?

Yes!! - the original shortcuts are still the best.  Apple reallly screwed things up when they conflated zoom shortcuts with text size.

Cropping the canvas it's essential , without having to input numbers as bigeyex says.
 
The Export-persona-slice-mode it's fantastic but including cropping canvas / infinite canvas / pasteboarding / ... would be great.

Just how illustrator and freehand do, but as of yet not on affinity.
 
If I have a bunch of elements on the page and say i decide to switch typefaces in the evolution of the brand Identity, in affinity i have to do this one by one over and over again.
 
Hopefully this will be a quick fix for you folks.
 
 
Note the freehand implementation is of course better - it allows selecting any old thing(s) (text, group, mixture of elements) and there is still facility to change the font - whatever type is within that selection will get changed.
 
Of course I could go on and ask for styles etc but will leave that for hit further down the road.

Somewhere on the list can we have a GUI artboard / document sizing?  Like Fireworks, photoshops crop with capacity to crop larger? (or illustrator, FH's artboard sizing tools)
 
Am often building free form collections of elements and need to just resize the artboard in an intuitive way without thinking about units, origin points etc.
 
But not as important as … many other things.

First impressions with the beta are that it fixes the problem - ie specific unselectable element are now selectable and transformable when opened in the beta.
