That did the trick. Would love to know why though?

After edits are done I export as a jpeg and the image has missing pixels and white stripes ruining the photo. NEVER happens with photoshop.

Thanks Russ but while this will work, I was referring to the process of sampling the darkest and lightest points with the dropper tool to set the levels. This is the workaround

I love Affinity photo, I am not a "power user" and one thing I really miss is being able to set a "Max black & a Max white point" with the eye dropper in curves like you can do in Lightroom. Can you add this please?
