I don't know when Apple added this feature. I was getting very frustrated with other app, the dock and finder before I found out about this.

Is your trackpad set up to use 2 click pressure levels?

I'm new to this program. I'm new to this Mac. I just found out the track pad has 2 pressure sensitivities. I was pressing too hard on the track pad. The Mac interprets this as two mouse buttons down. This behavior was driving me nuts. I think this is the source of the Affinity problems I was having..

It's a bug. I checked the button, selected a crop region larger than the image. Then I unchecked the button. The crop handles now work as expected.
I agree that the histogram settings should not effect the crop tool.

Sorry for the confusion. There is a checkbox called "Layer" to the left of "Marquee" . Here's an image:

This is unchecked. The layer visibility is checked.

Yes, click and drag a handle. You mentioned the layers panel. I looked and notices a "layer" checkbox. It was unchecked. After I checked it, I could crop the image.
I'm just learning this puppy.

I am new to Affinity. I used the trial version and cropping worked fine. I bought a license. A licensed version on a Mac M1. The crop handles won't move. I select a crop tool. The crop overlay appears. I clink on any handle but the handle won't move.

I love the M1 pro. It's an upgrade from my 2012 13" MBP, so I'm thrilled. I have to give up my old CS6 Adobe Suite though. That's the biggest loss for me. I don't use Adobe PS and AI enough to justify a subscription. That why I'm checking out Affinity and Luminar.
