Thanks for the quick reply, @Joachim_L. I'm amazed to know that with all the tricky bits that must be entailed in reading and writing PSD files, it's *editable text* that has proven baffling... but glad to know that at least that it's a known problem. So it goes...

Affinity Photo 1.10.4 MacOS 12.0.1 Monterey Created a simple file that included several text layers (tried both Frame Text and Art Text). Saved as .afphoto file. Exported PSD file (tried various settings to preserve editability) Opened the resulting file in AP Discovered that all text layers are Pixel layers Phooey! Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for your help.
