Chills got a reaction from PaulEC in V2 Pricing for users V1
The reaction to Serif is getting silly.   Try dealing with Adobe  for $$$$$$$,    Affinity is a bargin and more than worth the price.   That the long term users of V1 didn't get any special discount over new users is irrelevant.  You got the use of the Affinity V1 SW and I assume that generated an income for you so you have a net benefit.
    Stop whinging.
I bought V1  just over a years ago and bought V2 yesterday.   I am still way ahead of the Adobe users and the Sw paid for itself in the last 12 months.
Should the loyalty discount be graduated on how many years ago you bought V1?   Those who bought V1 a month ago get s different discount to those who bought V1 in 2016?

Is the price you paid for V2 good value for you?  If so shut up.  It doesn’t matter what someone else paid.
As for those flouncing out saying they will never use Affinity again: That is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

There is a weird bug that is adding a space to the end of highlighted text that is copied (or cut) in the various Affinity Applications. This space is placed on the clipboard. In future, until the bug is fixed/squashed, you could try having a Text Editor document open and paste the copied text into that and then copy from that again to paste into the Affinity applications.

There is logging for PDF. I don't know whether it would have helped in this situation though.

If you're having issues exporting to PDF, you may be advised by the Support team to enable PDFLogging. This will allow our developers to look into your issue further and hopefully figure out what's causing the issue.
    For Windows:
Create a folder called temp on the root of your C:\ drive so you have folder at C:\Temp\ Run PDFLibLogging.reg - this will create a registry entry that enables logging for PDF Export Run Affinity and export to PDF and then click OK to accept the error message. Go to C:\Temp\ and send the newly created PDFlib.txt file to the support team as requested Now run PDFLibLoggingRemove.reg to return your settings back to normal PDFLibLoggingRemove.reg
    PDFLibLogging.reg

I'm glad it was a simple fix because if it wasn't hyperlinks I was going to reply that I had no idea what could be causing the issue!
A trailing space should not cause PDF export to fail so this is a bug that needs to be fixed but at least you can work around it in the meantime.

Open the Hyperlinks panel and check all of your URLs - exporting to PDF will fail if even one hyperlink is invalid, and Publisher considers a URL with a space at the end to be invalid. This has come up a couple of times this week. This might not be your issue but it's worth checking first.

That is what I expected.  As soon as the release date was solid I think Serif started pushing the teaser videos?
However given the discounted cost of Affinity and the number of years between charged versions, when companred to any other software out there,  it is still a bargin.  Some one is always going to be the last person to buy the old version before the new one comes out.

I speak for myself and echo what many others are saying.  However you're just one person with an opinion that carries no weight except yours.
Affinity are better than most in the software field. Something I have more understanding about than you do.

Those who had V1 had the value from using that software for weeks/moths/years.  That value I think would be greater than the prive paid.
The deal for V2 is also very good for V1 users.  That new users also get a discount is irrelvant.

For the last 20 years  I have owned and run a specialst company that distributes  multiple types of software as part of what it does.  I have been involved, in the inside of almost all the models of software distribution there are.  So I think I have the experience to make my previous remark.

Unlike the new users the early adopter V1 users have had many productive months and years  uing the V1 versions.  They have greatly profited from this in a way the new users haven't.  In the last couple of months  Affinity were signalling "something new" was coming,  No one has anything to complain about.

I can understand the displeasure of users who bought the V1 only a few months ago, but not of users who have received large and small updates for free for many years.
Serif is a small software company that has weighed up how much discount is economically justifiable.
And as I read it, all (registered) users of V1 get a money-saving package (possibly brushes, overlays or something else).

I had the same experience with Qatar Airways. I bought my ticket last Sunday and on Monday there was a Black Friday sale. I regret I didn't wait one day later because then I could got it at a much cheaper price. However, I didn't complain and I will fly with a more expensive ticket  than those who could make use of the Black Friday sale. That's life, one time you win, another time you loose. I am happy to see that there are other positive reactions here.
The same is true for V1 to V2. Everybody from new to existing customers get a nice discount. Everybody should be satisfied with this excellent deal. Nowadays too many people make the bill of others or envy them because they think that other person gets more.
Personally, I did not find many bugs, besides the one of the exe problem. My Wacom Cintiq 16 drawing tablet works without any problem and also my Intuos 5 M tablet from 4 or 5 years ago, still works.
People where so excited before the release of V2 and from day one of the release, that excitement got lost by all the whining of the upgrade price. That gave me a very sad feeling because Serif deserves so much better in my opinion. When I bought the Affinity Photo 2 course, made by Affinity Revolution, the excitement of the Ally really made my day. Now I am already over the middle of this course and seriously, those new features are very nice. By the way Ally, if you read this, please please please, create also a Designer 2 course. You will receive my endless gratitude!
    Be creative!

Complete rubbish.  Most of us seem to have no problem with Affinity pricing.  Read the thread.
If you have V1 for "a few years" you have more than got your money's worth.   I had all three for 12 months and have no problem buying V2 (universal license) I am still way ahead compared to using anything else.

If it costs me, on avverage, £/$100 every 5 years I will be more than happy. That works out at £/$ 8 per app per year.

Not "every software company" does what you suggest.  Many don't
You are not being attacked by "rich people"
You haven't wasted any money on V1 because V1 still works and does what you paid for. You haven't lost anything.
You got a good deal on V1, it still works and will continue to work.
It is better value than any other system out there.

The time before V1 and V2 is about 8 years.
Even if V3 comes out in 5 months V2 (like V1) will continue to work and NOT be obsolete. None of its functionality will cease.
Though V3 is liky to be at least 5 years out.  I bought V1 (without a discount) 11 months before V2 came out.
NOTE I was still using Adobe CS6 from 11 years ago (untill I bought Afinity V1 a year ago)  because I can't afford the Adobe subscription  service.
Serif periodically do discounts of 25% and 30% at least twice a year so you can get V2 later..  There is no rush as you are not using affinity in business.

Life is what it is and it isn't fair. However Affinity do a very good job of producing very good software at a very low price. They get in 99% right.

Reading all these posts I feel hard done by as I have no reason to whinge. I've had AP for 18 months and the Issues I've had with it are mostly down to windows/graphics driver updates. I purchased AD about 6 months ago and shortly after APub (after fantastic customer service from Serif).  Three or four months later all the signs pointed to a Ver 2 release would be 'soon'. After a few weeks Ver 2 was released and as soon as I could get online I purchased the full package. No problems with payment, download or install on the PC & Ipad. Running the pc versions the I found that it runs a bit slow at times, probably due to my old computer.
I did find a 'bug' but I can't whinge about that either as after I reported it I've had word Serif have recreated the issue and are looking in to a fix but again (as I suspected) it is windows based.
I am a private user who is unlikely to use the software commercially, can still use Ver 1 if I wish, can use on two platforms (not that I will use the ipad version as I won't use the ipad) and will get updates to both Ver 1 & 2 and won't have to buy the upgrade to Ver 3 for a good while yet.  Add to that the fact that I have still paid a lot than I did to rent the 'industry standard' that cost me £480 ish (for one program) and I have no software to use now I don't pay them.
OK so I'm not that keen on the fact the pc version is an app but it runs well, no issue (other than the external program issue for which I have a workround till the msi version is released) because it is an app. I don't care that new customers can buy it for the same price as me, I got a good deal I'm happy with.

I can appreciate that those that paid full price for Ver 1 a few weeks before Ver 2 was released could feel 'ripped off' but that's life, I went to the supermarket today where things I bought Wednesday at full price are now on offer, it happens!
Well done Serif, I am more than happy with how I've been treated and hope to have several years of updates & new features before Ver 3 comes alone.

Maybe it is time this thread was locked.
