Affinity should support reading and writing DNG files
Affinity does read DNG just fine.

PDF layers is a different animal than normal graphic layers. In PDF objects are usually separate anyway, so when you export as layers those objects are organised as layer structure, if you export without layers objects are still there but without a named layer structure. I have not used that PDF feature so I cannot say how to prepare document to properly use the feature.

The main concern I had was hearing that every time Apple issued a new OS update (once a year) many people had to troubleshoot, patch & tweak their "Hackintoshes."
Mojave is stable OS, no need to update anything.

I have been a Mac guy, but recently built my own PC workstation since I can't afford $20k for a decently configured Mac Pro.
It is not very hard to install OSX to PC hardware. Or to make dual boot system.

Probably best idea would be to find basic information how to collect and organise material, how to prepare material, how to build book structure and layout, and generally what is the workflow.

Affinity apps grouped layers work differently than in PS, (where you can group them to "clear" the layer panel, and they'll keep on acting as before grouping on the layers below) —, you can't group them as easily
Can you clarify what is the difference? I thought they behave similarly.

In APu I couldn't find any way to set padding via the Text Frame panel. I did try using Left and Right Indents as well as Space Before Paragraph set to Always, but these did not seem to make the text box resize at all.
You use Inset values to add padding. It does not change the size of text box but pushes text inner (thus "inset").
Paragraph Decoration is workable solution also, it all depends if you have text as longer run (as is usually preferable in normal publications), or if it is cut to snippets (as in posters and such single page layouts).

"Character leading" is really "Leading override" and it applies to text rows within a paragraph. It is seldom used. See

Seems Photoshop is loading embedded PSD data
Yes, for some reason there are both resolutions available in PDF file. Mind you, if you access the image with Acrobat and select "Edit" you get 150 dpi version in PS.

PDF content is plain pixel image. Both PS and AP should import and present it equally. It is possible that PDF rendering does some weird things.
Acrobat esports the image as 186X211 pixels, as AP reads it. Direct opening to PS gives 371 X 422 pixels. Can @ronald618 tell which is one the real resolution that was placed to PDF?

I guess OP has no en-AU dictionary installed though document asks for it, and needs instructions where to download it from and where to install it.

I believe the OP is referring to the ‘Auto-Fit’ function in PagePlus, which resizes the text in the selected frame so that it fills the frame completely without any overflow.
Alters point size? Where you would use such feature?

1. Increase or decrease paragraph indent on selection and click of button
That is usually done by adjusting paragraph style options or in paragraph palette.

Maybe title case should be more intelligent or at least more grammar aware.

There should indeed be some intelligent behaviour to keep 100% K elements as 100% K. Currently there is way too much rich black trouble.

What is this?

I do not see how in real world copyfitting could be done otherwise than manually. It takes hyphenation adjustments, character width adjustments, kerning adjustments, and sometimes actual copytext can be altered.

Yes! Tables have serious limitations now.

I would think it would be intuitive just to drag and drop colours to swatches panel. It never seems to work.

Before/after in filters, both destructive and layer ones.

Generally Affinity is missing simple before/after buttons altogether.

It should not be necessary to think about pixel alignment or resolution differences (as long as there is resolution enough).
The document should look the same before and after merging. Layered document creates a merged look on screen on the fly anyway and it should be true. If the look changes upon merging it is up to devs to correct behaviour, it should not be up to user to adjust layers.

Archicad PDF exports should be handily adjusted in AD. Mostly problem is that drawings contain very many paths and finding fillable paths may be hard.
How do I make a document open at previous size/position in Separated Mode?

Separate mode is seriously buggy and non-standard behaviour. Its habit of opening images in small windows and repeatedly losing toolbars is annoying.
