Easiest way is just to use Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Threshold... Use the slider to select threshold point after which all colours go white and all others go black. Mind you, you have transparencies in your file so these parts show grey anyway. Remove that by removing tick from Document > Transparent Background.

How to select pixel
Fixx replied to mallen's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
CTRL click (PC) and CMD click (Mac) should work just as in Photoshop but remember to click LAYER ICON, not LAYER NAME. -
End marks at article end

There is even no need to pin, you can paste a graphic inline. -
Why is it so hard to rotate something?

OK now I got it. Temporarily did not show. -
Why is it so hard to rotate something?
Fixx replied to mayfly's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Moving, scaling and rotating are easy with move tool, but shearing I cannot do. Transform panel works fine if you have selected the right layer. -
JPEG compression
Fixx replied to Donovan's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Serif has "kinda" admitted the quality of Affinity JPEG export is not top notch. It is "kinda" recommended now to use additional software if top quality JPEGs are needed. For example, export from AP to full size TIFF and batch resample/sharpen/convert with XnConvert. -
Enhanced posterise function?
Fixx replied to Subclavius's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
As operations are non-destructive it is possible to apply posterisation layer and place a curves adjustment layer below it. That way you can adjust posterisation result "quite" easily. Having adjustment tools right in the posterisation layer would maybe be easier. Anyway, I dislike the way posterisation works on each colour channel separately, it would be better if it would be more like applying indexed colour mode – you would just define how many colours you want. -
Google fonts plus some other suggestions
Fixx replied to CodyHill's topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on Desktop
? FontBase IS a tool for activating Google fonts? ...maybe you mean download and install is just as easy? -
Crop tool works only the whole document as AP is meant to be a photo editor (as opposed to Designer and Publisher where each object can be cropped individually). You can though mask each image layer in composite quite easily by drawing a marquee around the image area you want to keep and clicking Mask Layer icon in the Layers palette.

OP probably wants to load a bunch of images to Place Image Tool and insert each to corresponding table cell. I could not make it happen, inserting images to cells was copy paste only. Another question is if placing to cells is really necessary, or if they could be placed and lined up normally.

Google fonts plus some other suggestions
Fixx replied to CodyHill's topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on Desktop
While using fonts other than installed into system is unorthodox thing to do, web developing apps do it all the time. It would make sense to use Google fonts direct in web development work in Designer. Even though you can download and install them easily enough.. -
Upgrade Pricing Policy
Fixx replied to Fenster's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
It is possible that Serif will skip version 1.9 and release v 2.0 soon. But I think it is more probable v 2.0 will not come out this year. This is pure guesswork though. Also, there really is no real indication of pricing. Current app stores though do not support special upgrade prices. So far Serif has sold new versions at reduced price for all for a limited time after release. This may continue or not. Also, it is possible that price will change – maybe version 2.0 will be so much better they charge double price. Anybody's guess. -
Find out what is the optimal dpi for your printing project. Your printer service can probably tell and for cloth printing it is probably significantly lower than for normal printed matter. You can upsample your images with Affinity Photo: Document > Resize document... Use Lanczos method for sharpest result. Note that you cannot really add sharpness to image with normal upsample methods. Be sure to apply unsharp mask filter to regain some sharpness. Also it may be meaningless to try upsample image more than 150-200 % – it will look soft anyway. Exotic upsamplers like Topaz Gigapixel have algorithms that invent sharpness to images and results may be much better at larger percentages.

Slashed Zero Font
Fixx replied to Juan T's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I think you need to get a font that has 0 slashed. Any technical font should have it, like Consolas. Or you can build a graphic for it. Start with "0" and"/". -
X5 has got some very food reviews. Loos like it is a lot like LR but faster. No import, it just sees folders direct and provides previews as you go. LR catalog import is very basic and some suff like HRD and panos are still missing, NR is nothing to write home about. (This all is hearsay, I have not yet tested.) Wonder if it has content aware fill? Possibly even automatic when doing perspective correction?
