  1. Guys, I did a test and exported a document from AD to PDF and opened it in Illustrator. It behaved very expectedly: AD has 3 objects which are 3 layers; Illy has 3 objects within 1 layer. Layer in AD does NOT mean same thing as layer in Illy. There is no sense in trying to combine AD layers. They are just separate objects which AD calls as layers. Well they can be layered on top each other (of course) which in a way means they can be thought as layers. Best practice in AD work flow would be to develop a layer/object grouping scheme which keeps work space tidy. I believe that is what OP needs.
  2. Nicely the same shortcut as in PS. Question is if there is any way to modify target colour range like in PS? Seems there are only standard colours available.
  3. Many of us have kbd shortcuts deeply memorized, almost instinct level, so it would be nice if AP would support those readymade instincts. Problem with cmd-H is that it works fine in PS, but AP does not catch and stop it but delivers it to system which uses it to hide application. Well, selection border disappears for sure... I have not found in system preferences > keyboard any place to inactivate cmd.H.
  4. Well, I have no idea either what Input minimum and Input maximum mean here. First thought was that they define black and white points but that does not happen. Please enlighten me :-)
  5. I you shoot Adobe RGB JPEGs choose Adobe RGB for working profile. Your monitor has calibrated/profiled Dell profile which works in system level and there is no need to assign it in app level. (Or so I suppose this goes in windows side too.) sRGB when talking about your monitor means just the colour gamut your monitor is capable of, not actual profile.
  6. Develop module is certainly serviceable but not as good as LR or C1. Or possibly you can coax it to perform as well but it takes more work. Likewise I stay with LR (but then AP is not meant for volume work in photo development).
  7. I would think RAW developing develops to current working profile and uses it in export unless you define it differently in export>more.
  8. It somewhat limits what I can do to an [image] when it is stacked in a layer composition, which means I have to prepare the source files more carefully. For example I cannot do noise removal afterwards as effect as it needs rasterized layer. On the other hand many effects work nondestructively and can be used as they are realized only at export rasterization which is high quality. Or so I suppose and wish best :D
  9. Traditionally "flatten" in PDF production has meant removal of transparency effects and rendering necessary parts to bitmap objects. I do not think AD layers even appear as "layers" in PDF file (?) but just as separate vector objects which is how it should be. PDF layers is mostly meant for CAD files and is is a newcomer feature in PDF files.
  10. OK that was confirmation to old question. No rasterizing rotated or scaled images before resampling method is better.
  11. Vector cropping tool crops pixel images just fine. You just have to use in normal draw persona.
  12. Probably you could use a readymade image which masks the screen hot, and you can add shadow effect too. Possibly next version of AP can have a macro which automates this?
  13. JPEG 2000 is not lossless. Also JPEG is mainly used for delivery format and customers need to be able to open files reliably.
  14. Maybe you can use some other app for this like https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/22028/contactsheetmaker
  15. What is your intended end use, or where you will publish this? There are certain conventions how you should prepare file, which vary in different media.
  16. Are you sure the different colour stroke you have in text outline is not causing apparent blurriness? I think one colour text is looking sharper.
  17. AP really does not care much about disk space. It keeps all kinds of history and layer data in file so that editing is as smooth as possible. If you are desperate for space save as may remove some excess data. And if you just want minimum file size just save to JPEG.
  18. No scratch disk can be designated to be used. — My biggest files have been 16 GB range and AP certainly uses scratch disks. How it does this is another question, and we have not means targeting a certain disk for scratch use, but generally I feel AP is handling this well. Panoramatool, compared to some high end apps, not bad at all, but not to be able to render the single source images into separate layers — I would love to have panorama source images as layers in panorama. The Blend Modes, while choosing — flashes like a X-Mas tree. Only starters and people who have no idea what each mode does need this — c'mon, some of us are using blend modes creatively and need to test settings! It is fine, better than PS! (Though some modes seem to be missing.) The “Transparent Background" can’t be set to default — Please make this sticky! Most other things in the list are as said but not critical in my workflow (or I have not had yet time for critical need for them, next project may prove otherwise.. :-D)
  19. It should be in context tool bar, along with other ratio selections.
  20. ah there it is. Seem to be very limited. I am used alpha protection to be layer feature.
