  1. You might want to wade through this thread: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/396-ade-jpeg-bitmap-tracing-to-covert-to-vector/
  2. You can try posterize command in AP or you can use some vectorizer app.
  3. ehem... You can draw a text frame anywhere you want and set text centered in paragraph panel. And you can modify the size of the frame any time.
  4. In pixel editors cropping usually refers to document cropping. If you want to remove parts of the image and leave background visible you can just use selection marquee and select wanted area, invert and delete. Of course there is a difference if the image is object [image] or pixel layer, as [image] must be rasterized first. If you are doing object oriented layout work AD would be better tool.
  5. I would be very surprised if it were anything but lossless. I would guess LZW as it is the standard but ZIP is also possible. Resampler method applies to document objects that are not in document resolution, or have been rotated, or if you, well, resample image in export. Generally first ones are bad and bicubic and Lanczos are good.
  6. Generally I would say AP handles bigger files more easily than PS. I worked with files 1-12 GB size and for AP it was not a problem, PS refused even to open them ("not enough RAM" – I have 16 GB). Of course some of the file size was Affinity fluff, real image sizes were 800 MB – 8 GB. I did make new image size 3 m x 5 m @ 100 dpi and it behaved normally, some operations were a bit slow. That is, performance in our system is atypical.
  7. If you are using mac you can enter bullet direct from kbd but the actual key seems to be language specific: I can use alt-Q •••• but generally it is advised that alt-8 does the trick in english systems. You can also use OSX widget Character Viewer, double click to enter character to active text area:
  8. If you work in separated mode you necessarily do not have any "workspace". That is also standard behaviour, documents have their own windows. You can open multiple images with open command using shift or cmd -keys.
  9. so easy just to press cmd-c, cmd-v. Pasted object is automatically a new layer.
  10. select all (cmd-A), click layer visibility tick in one layer, it applies to all active.
  11. I think (flatten) preset just rasterizes everything, it does not flatten in traditional sense. Compatibility setting in "More" should do it, like PDF/X-1a:2003 keeps vector objects but renders transparency to pixels
  12. It should be there right between pen, rectangle and zoom tool. Notice that there are 2 versions selectable, art text and text frame.
  13. If you want to rotate in develop, crop tool works, you just have to set canvas also with crop tool. There is no simple document rotate command in develop which is fail. It should be coming.
  14. I tested quickly and seems save uses best quality. Original JPEG 142 KB open - invert plain save 486 KB export best quality 486 KB
  15. And TIF behaves exactly the opposite: Affinity insists using .tiff – .tif is not allowed. Go figure.
  16. Affinity files contain very useful previews in OSX. Seems there is no such preview available in windows? If it is available it should be good enough for DAM use.
  17. Problem is mostly that if you use raster effects you often do not get proper vector art for any elements that touch raster parts. Here is revealing test that shows the problem: dropbox.com/s/rgyy304pftzosfy/noisetest.pdf Left part is how I would to use vector shapes: vector outline with noisy bitmap fill. And it is rendered all bitmap as you can see if you zoom in. It just is not sharp like vector is sharp, down to device pixels when printed. Too soft, not usable. Right part is how left part should render: vector outline with noisy bitmap fill inside. That is made by hand, i.e. I made separate bigger noise filled shape and pasted that inside the same shape as in the left. That is how former example should render, not all pixels. In practice making all art like that, pasting separate objects inside other objects is too time consuming and really this quality should be available direct without pasting handjobs.
  18. Usually the aim of resize without resample is to set physical dimensions of the image as wanted, i.e. set size in millimeters (or inches if you use pre-industrial revolution units). Again, usually that is not needed as size is set in layout or printing application. Exact size in millimeters is needed if you print from AP or you have automated workflow where layout app expects to get ready scaled images.
  19. Undestanding DPI video does not help to change dpi value. I personally did it in PS, there was no way to do it accurately in AP.
  20. R C-R, I certainly want to export vector shape with raster fill. This should not be too hard to achieve. Try to read more carefully.
  21. Without database component using AP in photo archive level is anyway not feasible.
  22. I assume OP wants numeric control of nodes? Editing the nodes work well enough with mouse but numbers are missing.
  23. More than handy. Both target colours and tolerance should be adjustable. Maybe even luminosity target.
