  1. I find there is no problem in dragging a layer from one document to another. I tend to use separated mode where you can have all documents visible in their own windows.
  2. I have Word & Excel for Mac 2011. I may have dozen or more documents open – I feel it is not too much work to keep cmd button down and press repeatedly W. Takes a few seconds.
  3. I would hate if there was all kind of windowzy buttons all over the interface wasting real estate as kbd shortcut are so much faster to use. I suppose there would be no harm though if you could hide them. Some tablet computer users like them also.
  4. Seems there is no picker tool for setting black and white points. Personally I think they are not exact enough to be useful, it would be better if there was an "auto" button for AP to find and set them automatically. Unfortunately they are also missing in Develop Basic, Curves and Levels.
  5. See if Preferences>Performance>View Quality>Bilinear makes any difference.
  6. I can imagine supporting hyphenation in 100+ languages is going to be a project.
  7. I could say pixels that I have onscreen are kind of dots. Also, printer (or more often imagesetter) dots are frequently called device pixels. Never mind, please continue the war ^_^
  8. This is standard behaviour and happens already.
  9. My Word and Excel do not have that command. I can always quit program to close documents. But anyways, someone may need that command while I do not. It should not be hard to code and there is room in the file menu.
  10. Are you talking about white point tool? It does not really set white point but colour balance. So it would really be "grey point". In basic develop there is black point but no white point... where: I would say Exposure works like white point setting, Black point sets the black point and Brightness adjusts gamma. I practice white and black point setting does not just stretch the histogram, it compresses the very end of histogram to avoid clipping, at least to some extent.
  11. Ability to make new guide line by dragging them from the scales – works with arrow tool Line (polygone) selection tool is not in the selection tool menu – Free hand selection tool, press SHIFT Affinity is currently about 2-3 times slower than PS CS6 – I work with around 8000 X 14000 16-bit images with max dozens of layers, no problem. Performance varies with different tools though. Level tools should display the peaking value while pressing alt (like PS). – You have to slide black/white point in PS too to get clipping indication (at least in CS5), just pressing alt does nothing (well, changes cancel to reset). Clipping preview behaves identically. Auto and sample tools are missing though. No default preset in many tools (Curves, HSL, etc...) – This is real nuisance in filters (and many other places)!
  12. Save as in PS gives 0–12, save for web has 0–100. Here is a quick quality comparison, PS quality 2 (100) first, Affinity quality 10 (100) below it. Had to go low in PS to get same file size 38,5 KB. And 100 % quality from PS to compare to "original":
  13. Adjust print size separately is the same as (no) Resample, right? But +1
  14. I do not think I have any app that has this fundamental "close all" command. Search shows I have 712 apps in this machine. Edit: Correction, Finder has it :-)
  15. Move selected – this works already. If you select object in layers panel you can grab it through another object and move it using arrow tool. duplicate layers between open files (and in the same position if equal size) – copy-paste works like you said. new alpha channels – channels are there but I think their implementation is not very straightforward. "Solid color" layer style – Layer>New Fill layer
  16. I think you can create quite lively lines of varying width using pencil tool in AD. Wacom sure helps here.
  17. ahem, this is so convoluted process that it is virtually unusable. In PS this works just like you would be cloning the same document. I know AP is not trying to be PS, but I would prefer it to be EASIER, not more complicated! I must add – WAY MORE COMPLICATED!
  18. Problem is that when AP exports to tif with metadata it saves also original dpi setting. If you save without metadata new dpi setting takes. You can access this setting in export>more dialog. You will lose all old metadata (like copyright, camera model etc). I wish developers would fix this feature.
  19. Modifier keys should be the same both in mac and win, only exception being CTRL (win) = CMD (mac). Shift and Alt should behave the same. Affinity has frustratingly assigned them otherwise.
  20. You might want to wade through this thread: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/396-ade-jpeg-bitmap-tracing-to-covert-to-vector/
  21. You can try posterize command in AP or you can use some vectorizer app.
  22. ehem... You can draw a text frame anywhere you want and set text centered in paragraph panel. And you can modify the size of the frame any time.
