  1. Is this about iPad Photo? In AP (mac) there is no problem in selecting multi
  2. I had incomplete install of Topaz Impression. Now it works (OSX El Capitan). It is sometimes hard to follow what gets installed where and what should be adjusted to make it work in AP..
  3. Here is RGB image with histogram: And here is indexed colour image with histogram: They are identical. In practice if you save them to png there should be no difference how they behave in web environment, also size should be almost the same. Some technical situations may cause problems, so it would be nice if there was a way find out the exact colour model of the document.
  4. Indexed colour and RGB image files may have identical histograms. Histogram does not help here.
  5. While less than 8-bit colours are not true colour spaces, they in practice behave like ones in common work flows. I though said they are "quite different". Truth is AP is NOT very well adapted to low bit depth work. There are no "bugs", just missing features.
  6. AP has only RGB, greyscale, LAB and CMYK colour spaces, in 8, 16 and 32 bits (not all bit depths in all spaces). No indexed colour, no bitmap. All foreign colour spaces will be converted to RGB. Therefore there is not much use to try to check indexed colour state within AP. Active AP colour space can be checked in Document>Colour Format. There are requests that indexed and bitmap spaces would be included in AP but I guess it may take time as they are quite different from normal ones.
  7. What kind of montage? You can just layer images on top of each other, drag them to wanted positions, add image area with crop tool, etc. There are no tools for making mosaic montages or placing images automatically flush to each other. There are other apps available for that.
  8. Though you can open AD file in AP and apply there. THAT should be tested as I have not tried that and have no idea of the limitations if any.
  9. Are you using Affinity Photo? You can resample with any 5 methods in export or choose not to resample (keep existing dimensions). Though compression artifacts are not related to resample, they result from too much compression in JPEG export. Default level should be 100 % where should be no artifacts. But then you say you have transparency which is not possible in JPEG. Did you do intermediate export to JPEG or was there some JPEG original?
  10. Usually colour is not transparent, it is COLOUR. If you want transparency, make image transparent. Checkerboard pattern indicates transparency. Setting colour transparent is old GIF generation method, nowadays you just use transparency as it is.
  11. I would love colour effects filters that would render vector output, not convert to pixel art. That way you could adjust colour in your art globally and for example curves filter would apply it effects to actual colour values within vector shapes. Probably they could be the current filter that would have extra command in layer rmb menu after "Rasterize" – "Render to vector shapes".
  12. You can add links to PDF with Adobe Acrobat or similar PDF application.
  13. Basically AP works quite similarly to PS. Some things are more effective in AP (like large image size work), other, some even rather basic operations, are simpler in PS. I am not a painting specialist so I cannot say if brush engine is up to professional standards. (Outside painting work) AP seems to be best alternative to PS.
  14. Seems at the moment this cannot be done in one operation. You have to crop first and scale then.
  15. Simpler would be: 1. Select area (modify/feather as needed) 2. Use plugin. Layer method gives more precision admittedly.
  16. XnView looks like something from 1980 PC... Pixave promptly filled my startup disk and jammed. Really reading preview image from af-file should not be too hard to do.
  17. I just bought Motion yesterday. Would love to have vector import from AD  I think it would be nice if Serif would add Motion XML shapes export to AD. Third party solutions or opening AD file format to Apple are not very probable so far.
  18. I think OP refers to vector operations. I would think those are in AD only.
  19. Yes, InDesign is way smoother for basic print production. For illustration, that may be different story.
  20. You just have to use some other app to convert. Preview does this nicely.
  21. I think crop tool does not snap to anything. It should, room for improvement.
  22. Yes, I feel slice tools and export persona should cover web image needs. Maybe they need some refinement?
