  1. Right now, I can't easily select my gradients from the swatches panel when I am using a gradient overlay as an effect. There's only the option to pick colours, but not predefined gradients. Please add this option.
  2. Not sure how or why, but now it does allow me to input Ctrl again. I'm puzzled. Might have been resolved by a software restart.
  3. I have mapped Cycle selection box to F1 (help is on F12) and there are no conflicting shortcuts, however, "F1", unlike "." does not allow me to cycle the selection box. Steps to reproduce 1. Create a rectangle 2. Rotate the rectangle 3. Make sure the rectangle is selected and go to Edit > Settings > Shortcuts > Select > Cycle Selection box and map it to F1 4. Close out of the shortcuts and press F1 with the rotated rectangle selected 5. Notice how this doesn't do anything, to verify, go to the Select menu > Cycle selection box 6. Alternatively, go back to the Shortcuts and change the shortcut to "." and notice how the period key does cycle the selection box. This is on Windows 10.0.19045.
  4. In 2.4.2, I guess since the changes for boolean add, I cannot use Ctrl for any shortcuts, it inputs a DeadCharProcessed. Video with comparison to 2.4.1: 2024-03-29 09-19-48.mp4 This is on Windows 10.0.19045.
  5. I have also found my fare share of bugs, if I see the release notes and Serif Info Bot, I also feel like these bugs are not addressed. That said, for 2.5, some of the bugs I reported have supposedly been fixed. I'm not sure whether what you are experiencing is down to your particular configuration or not. Perhaps, you've been very unlucky. I get the frustration of bugs that need to be fixed, though I also see employees willing to reproduce and fix bugs, particularly when they are focussed on them in the Beta stage. The info bot can also be seen as a genuine effort to help communicate to people that their issues might be solved and that they should have a look to confirm. But if the company is understaffed (i.e. some time ago there were difficulties hiring new developers) there's only so much that can be fixed.
  6. Indeed, that was the whole purpose of the shorter release cycles, it is already a focus point.
  7. Very much agree with this - and it would be nice to further streamline some of the pain points in the applications (like the lack of a vector eraser and perhaps a dedicated isolation mode). These are things that require elaborate workarounds. Fortunately, development seems to have already shifted in this direction. Hope this continues to improve with the new, shorter release cycle. Also, I appreciate the more down to earth, less PR curated messaging.
  8. It's both, while we don't know what will happen, there's been plenty of precedents to point to how softwares went down after an acquisition. So while it's best to be patient to await a final verdict, there's no reason not to voice any concerns in the meantime — at best these concerns can get addressed, at worst, people were right to be concerned. Now it's up to Affinity (Canva) to regain user trust, which Serif carefully built over years, but as we know, it can be gone in one foul swoop by breaking user expectations (and identification with the identity of the software and its mission). That people are passionate about this means they care.
  9. I also do hope there's some sort of clause, where if Canva goes bankrupt (if it is indeed backed by lots of venture capital - and mind you the company is just over 10 years old)that Serif can continue independently and that a potential shutdown of license servers won't disable users from activating their license on a new machine.
  10. Only thing I can think of is that the announcement was (or had to be rushed). Info is pretty scarce atm.
  11. The two things I'd like to hear out of the Q&A or any updates on the matter are: 1. What reassurances are there that V2 will continue to get new updates beyond 2.5 - most importantly - to make the software as is stable, bug free and devoid of workarounds? 2. How is continuity of Serif assured as we have come to know them? Meaning does Serif hold any leverage over their future plans? Will the mission of creating an Adobe competitor at a low price point (high value for money software aka no user extortion) continue to be pursued? I have zero interest in a subscription license or integration of tools to Canva, I want to see Serif finish what it started.
  12. Indeed, there really is no alternative that has integrated vector, raster and book publishing features in a single app. I don't want to think aboht going back to separated software. But as it stands, the future of Affinity as a small business and hobbyist tool depends on the pricing scheme, as much as we may like certain features or not. Customer support and features are secondary for those on a budget unfortunate as it is.
  13. Also, most of the reasoning in the announcement on why it felt right to join Canva really don't have anything to do with the users of the Affinity software.
  14. I have seen too many pieces of software die after acquisition by market giants, whether that's Adobe killing off services, Autodesk or any other billion dollar giant really. I sure hope Serif put lots of legal agreements in case that prevent Canva from pulling a big cash grab that screws with existing or future customers. I don't want future tools integrated in a web app, which, to be frank, Canva will eventually do as a cloud based platform. I have zero interest in that, the desktop based Affinity should continue to be developed, but I do fear Canva wanting to make a return on its investment is going to affect users. Even if the goal is to increase market share, price hikes are an important strategy in that business model.
  15. Definitely, but do note that only 1 out of the 2 tagged bug cases was solved. Curiously, it refers to Table of Contents features.
  16. Could be I typed something else here, I used the same quotation mark character here as on the forums (Shift + '/" on US international). The issue is clear, saw it happen multiple times with various cross-references, before I decided to post it here. E: Could be that the search field interprets quotation marks differently (i.e. doesn't change them to curly open/ close).
  17. If I search for "find this text" with the opening and closing quotation marks, the cross reference search does not find any paragraphs associated with them. 2024-03-10 16-49-54.mp4 Nor does it find the text without the quotation marks. 2024-03-10 16-52-52.mp4 The current workaround is to add other text in front and to delete it thereafter. Should be simple enough to reproduce, you can copy the "find this text" line from the forums to test with. It is in Affinity Publisher 2.4.0, Windows 10. Cross-reference cut paste.afpub
  18. I tried loading the custom studio preset I made, but that doesn't return the hidden studios. Haven't tried your method, just opening the find and replace panel again is easier to do anyways in case the studios dissapear in the void. 😉
  19. There is an issue with the toggle UI function in the version 2.3.1, which is still present in Beta version 2.4.0.2256. When you open a studio with the UI hidden, this affects the toggle UI function. Sometimes, the bug is worse as it greys out the studios and they cannot be recalled when the UI is shown after using toggle UI again. This behaviour is erratic, not sure why sometimes all the studios get hidden alltogether as well, see screenshot below. Note it was clipped to improve readability, but none of the studios are displayed. Steps to reproduce 1. Open a document, in this case I used Publisher 2. Make sure to show all toolbars, some studios and the tools 3. Invoke toggle UI from View > Toggle UI 4. With all of the UI hidden, use Ctrl F (to get the Find and replace panel to open) - I often use toggle UI here, because it allows me to see and read both pages of my document in Publisher. 5. Optionally, close the find and replace panel 6. Invoke toggle UI from View > Toggle UI 7. Notice how the tools, toolbar and studios are gone — or in the beta notice how you now toggle the studios and how parts of the UI are hidden. When Find and replace is closed, the only way to get the studios to reappear, because they can't be recalled from the Window menubar, is to activate Find and replace again. Video from 2.3.1 2024-01-30 19-04-36.mp4 Video from the Beta version 2.4.0.2256 2024-01-30 19-12-32.mp4 Expected behaviour In this case, I would expect to only open the find and replace panel when my UI is hidden, so I can still use the panels that I open with a minimal UI active. Other than that, I expect there to bet two modes, one with all UI elements minimised and one wherein all UI elements that I had enabled visible. This is on Windows 10.0.19045.
  20. The odd thing with 4. Footnote - text is that it's just two side frames and two linked text frames with the master Layout text applied, so it's one of the simplest masterpages in the document. Does this then have to do with the linked text frames? For example, I believe I have masters 1 applied to 2 and 3, detached them to remove one of the chapter headers. Not sure that was also the case in the submitted file. E: I can delete pages that don't have any content in the frames, so if I add new pages, reflow/ relink the text frames to the new pages so the old pages are emptied, deleting never crashes the app.
  21. Thanks @Lee D! Can you also reproduce crashes in the same file when applying masterpages? For example, replacing 4. Footnote - text with 2. Footnote - Subchapter-Text or 3. Footnote - Text-Subchapter (when I want to insert a new chapter) also insta crashes my document. This happens when dragging and dropping these masters over document pages or by right clicking on a page (selection) and use the Apply master... function.
  22. Thanks @Dan C for logging, the information and getting back to the team, it's much appreciated!
