@Callum Thanks! I tried opening the file in a new profile on my mac and it worked there too, since the linked images weren't there. So I had a look and resaved the psd files (3 files) as afphoto files, removed the psd files and opened the document again. It didn't crash then, just told me it was missing some resources, confirming that the problem was with the images. I then replaced those images using the resource manager and I haven't had any crashes since! So thank you for helping me figure out where the problem was Not sure why those images were a problem though, but at least it works again!

You seem to have posted this in Designer Bugs, not Publisher Bugs. You don't need to do anything right now, as a Moderator can move this one to the right forum, if they want to, but I thought I'd mention it for future bug reports that you post.

Hi EmmiV,
This file also opens correctly for me however some of the images are missing so this crash may be being caused by a corrupt image etc. Please could you try opening my attached copy to see if it works for you?

Not that this really helps, but it opens for me (on Windows) with no problem, (other than complaining about some missing resources). It opens in all three apps, so if you have the others, it might be worth trying to open it in AD or APhoto.

Yes, DaFont is where I got them Will make sure they're transferred to the new machine (or will download them again)!

The ‘Old Press’ and ‘Walkway’ fonts are all available on DaFont.

Good news! I opened your file (FILE>OPEN, not FILE>PLACE) in about 2 seconds using my 2020 Macbook Pro 13" with the M1 chip. You should not have any problem at all with your new machine, when it arrives. Just one very important thing. You will find that Affinity Publisher will note any missing fonts, or other missing resources (see the attached notice below). So do be sure that the fonts you have with InDesign are also installed on your new machine. (Sample pages from your .idml document are attached, for you to see how they look in Publisher.) Hope this will reassure you and that you will enjoy the Affinity Suite as much as I do!!
