  1. Thanks Lee the problem went away. I do not even remember what the solution was. Sorry to bother. I do notice that now and then stacking fails on my iMac Monterey and the second time usually works. Happened both on AP1 and AP2. Oh I remember now the original problem was solved by leaving off the calibration files to get the stacking to work.
  2. Hi folks, I am having an astro stacking problem. Trying finally with just a few lights. No luck. Could I drag 3 fits files on here? Thanks and regards.
  3. Not a direct link. I guess one has access only after deciding to download the whole 100 v17 macros.
  4. Thanks but they are not there. In the meantime I found them on the download page of his Gumroad site. You see them after you download James v17 astro macros. It is nice that the 8 or so snippets can be downloaded. I wanted to post a few on the new FB group, Affinity Photo Astrophotography, but the admin thought better not since they are James property. Regards, Irving
  5. I have seen a few video snippets by James Ritson on his v17 astro macros. Now I cannot find them. Can anyone tell me where in his Internet material they are?

  7. Hi folks, Someone from a Facebook group sent me 500 fits files from Seestar, taken over 5000s. These are 10s images of the spiral M101. I stacked 50%, stretched and edited. In this I used James Ritson's macros for stretching and sharpening. Here is the result. Seestar has a long phone-type format.
  8. Hi Paul, This is what Serif says. Affinity Photo 2 astrophotography with iPad?? Hi Irving, Thanks for your message! I can confirm that Affinity on iPad does not support any of the Astrophotography functions at this time, our apologies. I hope this clears things up
  9. Hi Paul, I do not know what this means. Is there any reason not to recommend iPads to AP2 astro users? Thanks and regards, Irving
  10. A new Facebook group called Affinity Photo Astrophotography was formed today. Please tell James R. that his work is getting a Golden Boost.
  11. Hi folks, I must apologize regarding my post about not being able to follow a youtube by James Ritson on editing RCW 113 files from Telescope Live. This morning I was able to follow his YT and came up with the exact same result. Here it is. It is a wonderful way to teach astro editing with AP and how to use the many macros that he has developed. Thanks and regards, Irving
  12. Don't spend too much time with this. It is really not that important. Thanks and regards, Irving
  13. Getting a message "Assigned Profile. AP2 assigned your working profile(sRGB.......(Linear)) to this unprofiled document." This happens when I try to enter files in groups to make and astro stacking. What is going on? Thanks for your help
  14. Hi folks, I am trying to astrostack 3 single files H, O and S using the JR method of separate groups to finally get a SHO composition. It worked before with single files but now the files are taken as single photos with a message something like "Assigned ......". Message does not stay long enough to read it. Thanks for any help. Regards, Irving
  15. One additional step: According to JR I used the Enhance SII Mono Layer macro. This showed up on the layers above the red SII but had no effect on the result. Wierd.
  16. Hi folks, Our astro friend and helper, James Ritson, posted a Youtube on the processing of RCW113 with AP2. In it he made use of his macros. I am interested in learning his processing methods and therefore downloaded RCW113 fits files from Telescope Live. They were not identical to the files he used. Mine were only 6 fits files HSO over 1h. I stacked them and following his video went on to the macro, Mono Log Stretch SHO. The result looked the same as that of JR in his video. Then following him I went to the "SHO composition setup". Now the result did not look anything like his result, no color. I wonder why. I am not new to AP2 and JR macros, having processed about 20 files from TL. In this work I have mainly just used his method of stacking in groups, a composition macro from JR and a stretching macro. Then I have finished off with the adjustment layers and maybe a star reducer macro and an enhance nebular structure macro. Generally I have been quite satisfied with my results. Thanks for any help, Irving
  17. Sorry, I guess the difference is only the result of the magnification. Here is the AP2 image enlarge. Much like the jpeg.
  18. Hi folks, Again I am not happy with the jpeg quality from AP2 (also AP1). Attached here are two files, one a jpeg and the other a screenshot. The screenshot looks much more like the original AP2 image. Thanks for your advice.
  19. Thanks Callum, Not a very active forum but one can always hope.
  20. A follow up question regarding SeeStar. I see that users are taking a large number of photos, over 1000. Regarding astro stacking is there a limit for AP2 to on the number of frames that can be handled? If the limit is exceeded would it be possible to stack in batches and somehow merge them together?
  21. Hi folks, Does anyone here have Seestar experience? I do not have a Seestar but would like to know how one goes about processing the files with Affinity Photo 2. I believe stacked fits files are exported from Seestar for each session and possibly also unstacked raw files are available. I have obtained some stacked fits files for various dso objects and processed one of them, NGC-6960, by selecting new astrophotography stack and then loading the single fits file as lights and stacking the single file. Then I have gone to one of the JR stretching macros and carried on with the adjustment layers. Also I used JR macros for star intensity reduction and for red boost. Below is my result. Thanks for any advice, Irving
  22. Hi James, Using SHO I could get only stars. Then tried HSO with a log stretch, at least something, and the golden boost gave me some color. I show the result here. I wonder what your result would have been without the StarXTerm plug in. Anyway I think you have better things to do. Many thanks for all you have done for AP astro. Irving
  23. Where does one find the 2 channel mixer adjustments? Thanks
  24. Hi Callum. I think this does not answer the question of separating the filter bands. I have read that Siril will do it but have not been able to find anything on this subject for Affinity. Regards Irving
