Alfred, I appreciate your response. I looked at the following video tutorial on YouTube but still do not understand. I hate to admit this, but I'm dealing with some cognitive decline, so things are a bit more difficult for me.
Kind Regards, Peter

Thank you, Ron and Garry.
Garry, I prefer your method, but I'm such a newbie that I'm having difficulty creating the steps to reproduce your results. I know I'm asking a lot, but is there any chance you could video the process?
Thanks, Peter

This may be a very simple question, but how do I join these two shapes so that I can fill #1, #2, and #3 with different colors/swatches?
Thanks, Peter

Hi @G13RL
That's an interesting idea. I'll have to try this out and see how it works. Frankly, I'm so new to all of this that I probably should do more research before I post questions. I really appreciate your reply.
Thanks, Peter

Hi, I'm a total newbie to AD and I've never used Adobe IL before. I'm trying to create two parallel lines on this segment - one on each side of the original - so I can fill each side with a different color.
I tried the method mentioned by GarryP at this URL: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/72716-parallel-lines/ but had no luck#1 Art copy.afdesign. Is there something I am doing wrong, or is there a better method to achieve the desired outcome?
Thanks, Peter
