No problem, I edited my response as I eventually found the file, but, your answer is good for others in the same situation.

Had the same issue, now found the relevant file, changed, restarted, all seems to load fine now.

What do you mean by not fix properly? If you want to specify colors in 16 bit hex format, you must use 4 characters per color, exactly like it does when you set it to use 16 bit hex colors.
Really? That's a new one on me - never heard of this before.
In that case Affinity was never broken, my knowledge was! -

Ah! That 'fixes' it in both Photo and Designer but, of course I want to use 16 bit so it's not fixed properly.

A good while ago I reported this issue when adding a colour HEX ref in DESIGNER.
Today, working on Photo, the same thing happens.
Instead of manually typing something like #000000 the box changes this to #000000000000
This, for me, makes it impossible to use, now both applications.
Please fix as a matter of urgency.

Just to open this again - even though I fixed this issue using the above solution, it seems to have resurfaced.
Back to editing the XML file again, or so I thought until I checked and saw the FALSE setting is still there.
I have both Designer and Photo - Designer works fine, Photo will not load either manually double clicking the app icon or a file etc.
Settings grab attached.
