I hear you, finding the software quite frustrating recently also
Having access to both Windows and iOS seems to have been a good choice on my part in that respect..

When I try to lock or unlock layers, or even individual pieces, it causes my app to crash.
I have quite a few fx layers and gradients, and they seem to be causing the problem.
Is there any workaround? I cant access half of my project that I've put many hours into.

Itvwould be nice if someone from serif actually told us all what is happening and if they know a way of getting around it untill they have fixed it.
all i see in here is that we are all loosing work and we are all geting frustrated because of it all.
then everybody is just spending time trying to get around it, so can we hear from someone who is actually from serif and is working on it or a solution instead of all of us running round trying to unsucssfuly avoid it crashing!
The photo is exactly the same. 
 
i feel totally left in the dark with serif, no answers, sometimes i feel these forums they tell us to use, is just a way 0f not talking to their customers, then leaving it to us in here to figure out what to do, the ones who have very cleverly built this software  need to talk to us! 
 

I can't provide a timeframe at this time, but the developers are looking into it.

Ever since the new update 15.0.2 my app is crashing constantly, it won’t save my work. I rely on this app for my business hope this gets resolved soon. 

To follow 0n i have tried all the usual, deleted the app, downloaded three times now, shut down everything then turned off ipad waited, still no change, its getting anoying, i may have to look around if this keeps going on.
 
i have all your software andvall your books, so i have paid out a lot for your programmes.
i would like an answer, not just reading compliants

My designer on ipad pro 4th gen is crashing all the time,its always in the area of the layers studio, either touching a layer to dosomething on, or opening the drop down list to be able to lock a layer or anything in these areas is causing the crash.
it happends nearly all the time, its the only thing i have to work with .
Is there any answers as to why ipad designer crashes? All i see is all of us saying what is going on but no corective action given out.

This is exactly my experience! It freezes and crashes while moving objects within the layers panel.
I hope the developers can fix this soon, otherwise I just forked out for an iPad and now can't use it for the main purpose I bought it for.
Funny, I remember years ago iOS updates on my old MacBook used to create problems rather than solve them - right from the start as well. Windows updates rarely seem to create issues OTOH. I'm going to complain to Apple and consider claiming a refund under consumer rights if this persists. Apple suck! Get an Android version. 

Yea its annoying as i have invested a lot of time and costs in these programmes, most days i can only use my ipad due to my position i am in.
i tried my imac as i have invested in all the mac and ios software programmes inc the books etc, it works fine on my mac but today is a day i cannot get onto it to complete my work.
the photo app on ios is also crashing the same way!

I have the same issue since I have updated to the latest version of the app. It happen when I just tap the layer then the app disappears and does not save anything. I used the app for almost a year but this just happened with the update. Please help

This issue has been logged with the developers to investigate further, but no update at this time.

I got the same problem! Since I updated the app to 1.10.2 on iPad Pro M1, with iPadOS 15.0.2, app crashes all the time, specially when I lock or unlock layers, or when I want to put color tags. I can’t work, because app crashes a lot 😞

Since updating to Affinity Designer 1.10.2, my iPad Air 3 (256GB - 146GB available), running iOS 15.0.2, has been crashing every few minutes.
I work in vectors & spend a lot of time editing nodes. The issues:
Affinity crashes on locking layers. Randomly unable to selectable certain curves, the curves are visible in the design, but not in the layers panel. The image also disappears from the layers panel & the layer appears empty.  Sometimes after rebooting, the missing layer reappears & then a different curve will disappear from the list.  crashing on dragging a layer downwards. Crashing on ungrouping. 2 finger movement to zoom out crashes, but not always. Sudden crashing with no identified cause. I’ve tried rebooting the iPad several times, I’ve closed all apps except Affinity Designer, I always close Affinity after it crashes, but the constant crashing continues.
I’d be most grateful for any suggestions &/or a bug fix, as it’s making working on designs extremely slow going, not to mention frustrating. Many thanks!
