Try to have a Japanese keyboard and set the language setting of your Mac to Japanese. Also, it's happening on a Mac M1, don't know about the Intel version. Is the repository OpenSource? If it's easy to fix, I may be able to send you a pull request.

Thanks! I already know this solution. But Japanese UI is different from your's. It's UI of English version as English keyboard settings. Japanese keyboard don't have Romaji checkbox. Also, according to other people's information, if I use Google IME, I can change the language. However, if I use Apple IME, I can not change it.
